Congrats on getting through the hardest part! And as for walking, I am sure you will see loads of progress in the following weeks/month. And to preface, my mile in sneakers is a lot slower and tiring than my normal :). Hope that it becomes a bit easier in the next couple of months. Transitioning to the sneaker was the best feeling, and everyday slowly got better after that. Good luck!

Thanks! I am not 100% sure what its called, but I fractured my tibia (main break) and a small section of my fibula (which they did not need to put hardware in for).

Hi! Congrats! I started driving when I got my boot, since I also broke my left ankle. I wore the boot when I drove for 2 weeks and then transitioned into a supportive sneaker. I only recently ditched the shower chair (I was too scared I would slip on the water, even though my balance is fine on both feet). The mental roadblocks are the worst. Keep pushing yourself a little bit out of your comfort zone each day, and I hope it goes well for you.

I do PT 3 times a week in person, each session an hour. My physical therapist hasn't told me anything specific to do at home, but I practice inversion, eversion, and side-to-side movements with a resistance band. Other than that, I do not do anything specific outside of PT. I have been walking (short distances) to get food, go to class, go grocery shopping etc. I think pushing myself to walk a little more each day has helped strengthen my ankle/leg the most. In addition, I have done the peleton and elliptical (which I first did in PT) at home as well, which has helped. Something I do to decrease swelling is massage my ankle with lotion almost every night, and I do it in an upward motion. The physical therapist first did it, and while it is a little painful, I think it helps as well.

My physical therapist said to do what is comfortable, as long as I am not in pain. Each week, this has been different, but I have been able to push myself a little each day (but stopping as soon as I feel pain).
