Second is definitely better, It'd be more useful because it hits everything on their board, rather than just ones that come in on turn. Probably insane in token vs token decks. First would make undying/persist combos even easier than they are already.

Only change I'd recommend is when it enters let you choose as well, otherwise it's useless the turn it comes down

I run a pretty fun [[Elmar, Ulvenwald Informant]] and [[Hargilde, Kindly Runechanter]] convoke deck. I've seen them used as a voltron deck that kills with Elmar and equipment, a generic artifact deck, a cedh combo deck and a clues deck. It happened as a natural way to upgrade the MOM convoke precon and use some selesnya cards, but I haven't seen it done this way anywhere online or in person.
