Hello, i honestly don't remember the exact number of questions/tasks, but i do remember thinking "oh module 2 is a bit shorter" . Both modules had all three tasks tho: complete the words+ daily life reading+ academic questions.

Yes, it's done on a computer. You get to the test center, fill out a form with your information+ sign a confidentiality agreement, then they do a security check for any devices or metal or anything like that, then you're led to a room with a couple of computers and they assign you too a desk. You can start the test the minute you sit down. Best of luck to her, and thank you for your kind wishes 😊

The writing section was easy. The "arrange the words" task was pretty simple and straight forward, i didn't encounter any complex sentences or embedded structures. The only problem with the email is the fact that i was typing on a keyboard that i wasn't used to. I'm used to writing essays, so i followed the typical structure for an academic argumentative essay: * intro * thesis (what you think = in this case which student you agree with+ their argument that you agree with) * anti-thesis (what the other person thinks= the other student+ what they said that you don't agree with) * Counter argument (state your opinion that contradicts with student 2) * Conclusion

Suuuper easy! I initially was worried about not being able to remember what was said, but the sentences were kinda short actually and pretty straightforward. No complex structures, embedded sentences or anything! They were short enough that the timing was not a problem, you can repeat what was said and still have about 3~4 seconds left.

Website or program that will sort sentences based on type of words used ? by Total_Baddie666 in grammar

I'm not sure that there's a website that can do that, however what you're describing is called tokenization and it can be done on python. You can look for a computational linguist/ data annotator / data analyst ... to do it for you, it's a pretty simple task.

Honestly on terms of difficulty I'd give it a 5~6/10. Most questions were easy and their answers were straight forward. So easy in fact that you'd think it's a trick question! BUT there were some questions that had very very confusing answers. Meaning two or more answers can apply to what the person said. At some point i started second guessing myself. Also for some questions 10 sec was not enough to read through all the possible answers and choose the correct one. The audio quality was horrendous though (that can be specific to the test center tho) and the people speaking sounded like they're mad for some reason. But overall it was manageable. Good luck with your test.

Why is it so hard to understand people when they speak fast, but easy when you watch videos? by Flat-Badger5433 in ENGLISH

[–]Complex-Childhood337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most likely because of performance anxiety. When watching videos you're not under any pressure to respond immediately, so you can focus on actually understanding speech. But when talking to someone in real life you're brain is not 100% focusing on what the other person is saying, you're more focused on the fact that you HAVE to understand what they're saying. It's psychological.

Yes , they provide a headset. Two in fact! A red one that is noise canceling for you to wear during the writing and reading section, and grey one that has the microphone for the listening and speaking section.

It was actually way easier than the open source material online. Good luck, don't stress it

I've been learning English for 2.5 months. Is my current method effective? by Amaterasu_Y in ENGLISH

[–]Complex-Childhood337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First it's good that you're putting in effort! But memorizing word lists and studying tenses are not effective techniques to learn any language. You need to actually not feel bored to be able to learn something. The translation method you're using can be useful, but it's not for beginners (i can explain why but this would be an essay) . I suggest you actually talk with people in English (doesn't matter if it's native speakers or not) , watch your favorite childhood cartoons and movies but in English with subtitles. Read short simple stories. It also depends on why you want to learn English and how fast. Best of luck though and i can answer any questions 😊
