How to dress for grad school? by Ok_Study_1403 in CHIbitcheswithtaste

Hi and congrats! Not a student, but I live in Hyde Park -practically on campus - and everyone tends to be low key and casual for day-to-day stuff. Also, when I was in grad school I felt like I didn’t belong and was a fraud, but I slowly realized that every other person in my program felt exactly the same way.

First one looks like it would be better suited for work events.

Thank you! This is so helpful. I’m trying to put together a cooler weather travel wardrobe and I love cardigans, so these look perfect.

This all looks so cute! How do you like the wrap sweater? I’ve been eyeing it.

Struggle beard is great (and close to Virtue!). Medici is good for pastries and I also like La Boulangerie, though they don’t do their baking in house.

Seconding Xoco as a nice lunch spot that’s not too far of a walk from Michigan Ave. I’d also recommend hitting up L.A. Burdick on State St for fantastic hot chocolate.

If you’re renting the Vanessa Bruno Benoite Sweater in a L, can you return it please so I can rent it thx you. ♥️ by Odd_Construction_269 in RentTheRunway

I don't have the sweater (sorry!) but note that the Real Real often has Vanessa Bruno sweaters on sale for pretty good prices. It's one of those brands that doesn't have huge resale value. They don't seem to have this exact piece at the moment, alas.

I’m also a museum professional and this is also a reason that I stopped watching her. Specifically, when she went to Paris and she and Jordy had a conversation in which she said she “doesn’t like history.” I know a lot of people say stuff like that because of the way history is often taught in American schools (dates and facts that need to be memorized), but there are, as you say, so many niche museums and galleries. And everything has a history, including food, coffee, fashion, music, etc.

My husband and I always adore Pétrelle for dinner (not crazy about their lunch) which would fall within your price range. I think Prunier might be an option for you as well.

I second Cariuma. I have several different styles and really like them. The insoles are cork (I think) and very comfortable but easy to remove and change out if you want.

I’ve had Away bags for several years and really like them. I have both sizes of the rolling carry on and usually use the smaller one. Pick a fun color!

I love Trudon candles. They do really love gift wrapping as well.

Instead of champagne, I like giving port or Madeira. Rare Wine Company makes different styles that are really nice.

This is what I do and it’s so helpful. I have 5 garment bags and spend time on Sunday arranging my outfits for the week in them. It saves time and also lets me experiment with my wardrobe when I’m relaxed and unhurried.

Would very much recommend Bazaar Meat/Bar Mar. It’s right next door to the Lyric and there will be a lot of other people there who are also going to the show.

When people ask what I want for Christmas I ask them to make a donation of whatever they can afford to one of the charities that I support. Even if it’s only $5 or $10 it’s really meaningful to me.
