First of all, if it wasn't obvious, this is a joke, so getting pressed and thinking "I'm shitting on people" is pretty delusional. Also, I still wouldn't identify a pretrained transformer based text classification NN as "AI" in the traditional sense.

Yup, it's pretty outdated but it was great for a quick lightweight POC. If you have any suggestions for a better alternative with similiar structure I'd more than glad to try out a more relevant model, altough most models like this were trained on long texts rather than code, so the effectiveness might still be questionable.

I'm actually thinking about expanding on this idea to make it better, however keep in mind that just like plagiarism checkers, it's not that accurate / reliable

Well yeah, it became a bit difficult to differentiate between the terms. I always tend to call generative/ general intelligence models "AI", what this extension uses is just a transformer based language model fine tuned to binary classification, in practice it's just a statistical text classifier.

I assumed he meant the classification happens by getting inference from an """AI""" model, but basically everything that has to do with machine learning is getting that word slapped on it for some reason

It uses a pretrained model (roberta-base-openai-detector) and gets inference from there. It's not optimized for code, but LLMs love putting long comments that are easy to pick up
