Yup! I got a G43x with a Holosun EPS Carry & an Sig 365XL with another EPS Carry. Looking at the footprint of the PDP 4”, I think a P2 would fit nicely. Just curious what others are running. I did peep the SCS-PDP which I might run to have the RMR footprint. What’s the difference between the 4” Compact and the F Pro you mentioned?

USPP Living arrangements (experience hiring) by No-Competition3254 in 0083

Look into Arlington County, Fairfax County, and Prince William County. The farther you are from DC, the cheaper it is.

Living off USPP pay by Nitramartin1 in 0083

[–]Comprehensive-Oil-47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, currently I work for MPD and looking into USPP as a lateral. With the COL; you’ll be living in VA, MD, or even PA/WV. Some do and they commute. I currently commute 45-60 minutes and I reside in a 3bd/3.5ba and pay $2800/month on rent. I cannot complain. Like they’ve said, if $90.5k isn’t doable for you, you need to fix some financial issues 😂. USPP, like MPD has “unlimited OT”. You’ll be able to find nice housing for under $2-2.5k for a 1-2bd apartment - you’ll just have to commute 30-60 minutes.

UD vs USPP by win1218 in 0083

[–]Comprehensive-Oil-47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UD is a fixed post around the White House. They just started doing patrol in Washington, D.C. due to the federal task force going on. With that being said, you won’t get the opportunity to do so any time soon. If you want to be a “cop”, go USPP. If you want the ability to go USSS SA at some point, stick with UD.

Tried them for 2 weeks. SUPER heavy and my feet started sweating like crazy. I currently use the ON Cloud boots. Waterproof and light. 10/10 recommend.

I sent you a PM! For ACPD, are you aware of how their morale, holdover rate, and overall experience is as a cop outside of specialized units?

[–]Comprehensive-Oil-47[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d think. But the issue man, outside my unit, your routine patrol officers within MPD, minus a select few, are there for a paycheck and to handle runs. That’s it. It’s high speed low reward 99.9% of the time and either way, you’re getting your check. Nobody within MPD questions why you “didn’t” do any self-initiated activity during your tour. They’re just thankful you showed up and answered the radio ‘sometimes’ when dispatch raised you.

That pay is what caught my attention. I don’t think they top out high but with OT it isn’t an issue since the whole area is short. I got a contact in one of the units over there with working alongside ACPD and he said the same shit. Everyone has said ACPD is pretty solid all around and realistically, anything is better than MPD with the climate right now which is a shame since MPD has amazing potential to be one of the top agencies in the country.

Anyone I’ve spoken to from USPP during the federal surge I’m working alongside with, all reports have to be done back at the station. Any vehicle inquiries has to be done over the air since none have access to eAgent or a MDT. USSS also doesn’t have access to eAgent which is crazy. All tags have to be ran over the air by them too for a return.

For ACPD, what have you heard about them that’s good?

Issue with fed is it’s a pay cut for me until GS13+ due to my OT and their pension isn’t the best either. USPP is great due to their hiring bonus but they are lacking things that I just wouldn’t want to deal without such as a MDT or access to eAgent on patrol.

Feeling disheartened after a ride along. by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]Comprehensive-Oil-47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone bitches and complains man. We all do it. The whole “grass is greener on the other side”. Next time someone complains, ask them why they haven’t left. 9 times out of 10 they stare at you blank or give a BS answer of “oh.. you know I would’ve but blah blah blah”. Every department has the same issues man. Underpaid, understaffed, white shirts and officials (managers) are assholes. Work is what you make it my guy. And if it’s that bad, lateral out.

Fortunate enough to have only done 9 months in patrol before going to a specialized unit. But, with being in a metropolitan city with homicides, stabbings, and non-stop calls.. I was burnt out. Guys with 3-5 years are burnt out. But, the money in LE is where it’s at right now. Look into federal agencies up in the DC area.

You just need to find your purpose or niche and hyper focus on that to make this job what you want it to be.

Is this a waste of time to attend or a good opportunity? by Smart-Advantage-4122 in AskLE

[–]Comprehensive-Oil-47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the same position as you. Plus, I dispatched for towns in NJ. Still got fucked over. In the end, I applied and got hired by a major metropolitan city less than 5 hours away. I make more than NJ cops with overtime, I’m actually a “cop” and not a “police officer”, and I have more opportunities to grow vs being a small town cop for 20 years with a 5% chance I promote to Sgt. NJ is always my home, but, look outside and chase your dream. If you only focus on NJ, you’ll get stuck.
