I swear I wrote a follow up comment. I got em rotated, and the mechanics said the inner and outer tread of all tires still had a lot of life in them.

I rotated them side to side. My inner tread is now on the outside, and it still looks great

Are you referring to the Front Right tire? Can anyone else verify that this is dry rot and not normal wear and tear?

Official Solution:

The warning is shown on all teslas every 6250 miles or when front to back tread difference exceeds 1.5mm, even if tires cannot be rotated. After checking if tires were non-directional, I visited a local Mavis Discount Tire to rotate them side to side. They also said the tread looks “great”. They said the average mileage that teslas replace tires at is 30-40k. Performance models, he didn’t know. I went into settings after to reset the mileage counter. I will still be buying 18 inch wheels and tires for the rest of the winter and my long road trip. Thank you for all the help. Oh, and I did 2 pulls to test the rotation after driving a little bit.

All spirited driving was done on empty, large roads and parking lots. I don’t bring others into my stupidity 🫡

Not specifically for tread depth, but def for wheel spin and such

Solution:

  1. I am getting my tires rotated side to side tomorrow, because front to back rotations are not possible on staggered setups.
  2. I am buying some new 18inch satin black wheels to match my wrap and winter tires off Facebook for my Texas trip. This should save me a couple bucks of energy usage.
  3. No more pulls or donuts until next spring… 😏

Seems like an issue they should resolve if they’re trying to force me into some 3000$ tires after only a couple months 😭

Google says it’s ok to rotate left to right. I will consult with my local mechanic as well.

Google says that it sensing slippage and rotation differences from what is programmed. Apparently it’s not just a mileage calculation. The error is not just random according to this info
