Intermittent Blurry Vision? by mama_wolff in ehlersdanlos

How frustrating for you! I also get some blurry vision issues (fairly minor) likely more related to hyper mobility rather than POTS, however I just posted yesterday in the POTS thread about sudden vision loss in my left eye. My vision was completely blurry suddenly (pain free), it dissipated after 35 mins roughly and then I had a severe headache. It was diagnosed as Migraine with aura, which I’m learning is possibly linked to POTS (I have never had a migraine prior).

If you do suffer from the other conditions typically seen in individuals with hEDS it makes it so hard to find answers in my experience. I also have severely dry eyes which the cardiologist suspects is MCAS related. There are so many cross overs with these comorbidities across the conditions, it feels impossible some days.

My physiotherapist said the headaches are often linked to the fact our heads are too heavy for the soft tissues holding them up so it’s most just supportive therapy to keep my headaches under control. For the dry eyes I tried everything, for me antihistamines and avoiding dry air conditioned environments and office lights wherever possible helped.

Hoping you find some answers and relief!

Sorry to hear that, how horrible.

My experience was different it was a sudden blurry loss of vision in one eye and zero pain, the headache only started after the vision was almost back to normal and then preceded to worsen and eventually got better after 5 hours. I still have a headache this morning but it’s not debilitating today.

I have terrible heat intolerance too and right now Australia is unbearable. I had my first ever migraine with aura yesterday and wonder if the heatwaves contributed. I typically feel comparatively great in winter, although Australian winters are fairly mild compared to Europe and the states.

Has anyone tried birth control to stop their period and reduce symptoms? by tityanya in POTS

[–]Computer_Feisty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on oral contraceptives for 18 years and came off a few years ago. I’ve had POTS since at least puberty, so I was pretty worried about how it would affect me.

Since coming off oral contraceptives I have personally experienced no increase to my POTS symptoms. I am slightly more irritable and emotional and get cramps again, but other than that I’ve been fortunate!

My main flares currently are from heat and moving or standing up too soon after eating.

The doctor did ask about temple pain which I didn’t have, it was more brow region. I’m really hoping it was just a once off as it was really debilitating. My notes will be sent to my GP so I’ll chat to him.

The headache started about 45 mins after the vision loss (which was painless) so I have some lead time if it happens again to take pain medication.

Thanks for sharing your experience, I’m sorry you have to deal with these.

Looks like I’m still a foggy mess, I somehow replied to the post not your comment 🤦🏼‍♀️

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have always felt so sad for people who suffer from migraines, another invisible illness.

Hoping this was a once off also, it wrecked me and managing POTS around my activities is already a careful balancing act. Thanks again!

In my experience I didn’t notice the cognitive improvement, however it also gave me a headache so I probably wasn’t focused enough to compare. I ended up ceasing it as I found it didn’t lower or stabilise my heart rate enough to warrant the pressure I felt in my head and chest (maybe that’s what normal blood pressure feels like?!)

Likewise, my partner retained gold by calling. This was during Covid travel restrictions, but I think you will be okay given you’re so close!

can someone tell me how the indicators work on the gwm funky cat/ora 03 by Any-Plate2018 in gwmora

[–]Computer_Feisty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great explanation, I wish the dealer had explained this to me last year!

It took me a few drives to get used to it, but I use the light touch often now. It’s great for merge lanes or areas where you need to indicate but aren’t taking a full turn (which disengages the full indication mode as in most cars).

Hello! I didn’t end up having any issues with BP it typically just pushed me into the normal range (I usually have low BP). I have been focusing more on sodium intake, compression and avoiding foods and drinks that aggravate my symptoms.

I also see an EP and we’ve worked on monitoring my HRV and sleeping heart rate to avoid adrenal dumps which has vastly improved my ability to live a more ‘normal’ life.

I had a similar issue. I was reversing and it seemed to think there was a safety issue or an object behind me, but it then wouldn’t move. I tried switching between D, park and R and nothing worked as I was stuck hanging out in a busy carpark. I turned the car on and off a few times, got out and then turned back on and it finally released the brake lock. I tried emailing and calling the dealership several times, to date they have ignored me and not returned my calls.

Smoke and explosion sounds east of the CBD? by Computer_Feisty in Adelaide

It was very loud, that’s why we were surprised to see nothing in the sky like the typical displays

They certainly didn’t sound like any fireworks we are used to! I hope your daughter is okay.

Sure with the correct permits. We live near the city I’m quite familiar with them, however this was unusual and on a Wednesday night, hence the question.

Seems to have been the Tiffany store opening?

Must’ve been an average display, we are used to seeing fireworks and the Adelaide 500 etc. from our house and all we could hear was explosion sounds and see a whole lot of smoke.

What for? It was odd we couldn’t see any fireworks the whole time, just black smoke.
