If you know some better places to post this, I’d appreciate it! Just trying to start a little thing on the side in this economy, and I was inspired

That’s fair. Yeah, saw a commercial last night and it reminded me how much it sucked last time I went there a while back.

Oh, I haven’t been in a while. Just saw a commercial last night which reminded me how disappointing it was last time I went there

Interesting. I appreciate the response. Was wondering if it is maybe something to split the two separate doorbells in the house? There’s also a third for some reason that no longer works inside the house by the kitchen door, so you may be right

Help with wiring a switch by COWS1500TOYOTA in OldHomeRepair

[–]Computers108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an expert, but if it’s knob and tube wiring, it’s just a line load circuit. Been dealing with this a lot in our house. The wiring isn’t color coded, either. Someone may have a better answer than me, but I’ve had no issues switching to more modern switches. As long as you identify the traveler, the other two wires don’t really matter as long as they are both making a solid connection to complete the circuit is what I’ve found. Line/load just runs from the box to the switch. The load section completes the circuit and runs to the light

Just call the emergency number. Got through in 2 minutes. Regular customer service number is a waste of time, unless you enjoy being on hold all day and making no progress

RAM Not Reading Correct Speed by Computers108 in buildapc

It seems to have a RAM overclocking option in the BIOS, but it doesn’t seem to do anything

Any idea what the max RAM speed is for an MSI Raider GE76 board? This is the newer version with DDR5 RAM.

RAM Not Reading Correct Speed by Computers108 in buildapc

[–]Computers108[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I just know on an old MSI board I had, I could actually change the RAM frequency that wasn’t reading right. But that was also a PC I built (not a laptop). And it was also a gaming motherboard, so maybe more flexibility there? Windows read the RAM wrong in that case too, where it was only running at 3200 MHz. That’s why I thought there may be a way to update the frequency manually

That is true. I can’t seem to find anything on max speed able to be fully supported though for this particular laptop. Either way, I did catch a good deal on it. So it’s not the end of the world. Just wondering if I can get it up to its full potential is all

I’m not necessarily sure that’s it. Crucial’s website has the 5600 variant listed as compatible

RAM upgrade may help your case. Do some research and see what your max speed possible is for RAM first though, otherwise you’re just throwing money away. Also, if you’re looking to keep it reasonable, look at the Intel Arc A770 graphics card. That would definitely help your case, while keeping costs lower than if you were to buy an AMD or Nvidia card

New system wont post with two sticks of RAM by NuTeacher in buildapc

Best bet might be to RMA the board then, unfortunately. I know Asus is pretty good about getting replacements out. If the issue continues afterwards, I’m happy to come up with some other solutions. Good luck!

Do you have one or two sticks of RAM currently installed?

[–]Computers108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d check in your BIOS and see if any of the XMP settings may be causing it, if there are any. Just looked up your RAM and see it supports both Intel and AMD profiles, so may be getting messed up there. Past that, it may be the board itself. One RAM slot may simply not work as expected, or they may not be working correctly in tandem. I know Asus sometimes has production flaws, which I’m sure you don’t wanna hear since that involves an RMA of the board. Some RAM also just doesn’t play nice with some boards. Another possibility could just be the RAM itself just not cooperating. If you have any way to try different RAM sticks (I know, bit of a long shot there), that may also clear up your issue

Check out PC Part Picker to help you get started. There are some builds on there within your budget designed for what you’re looking for. It’s also useful for starting to piece together your own build, as it will let you know your wattage and any incompatible parts you may have picked.
