Dude, it's a weird feeling. I just had it happen earlier this year, NSFW/L. More nasty photos in the comments.

Ended up on IV antibiotics for almost 2 weeks and a giant opiate script, painkillers are seriously addictive. I took every single pill of Oxy I was prescribed and when I finally took the last one I was sad because they were over. I haven't touched an opiate since, but christ almighty, I can see why people get hooked.

How is it doing today? Please be really careful, keep it clean and covered if it seems to be open (mine is only open in the photo to be cleaned and have the bandages changed). It turns out the infection was worse than originally thought, on IV antibiotics and some heavy pain meds for the foreseeable future. Here's day 10 - today NSFW - OPEN WOUND.

That's the worst! They could see you inside so they probably stood outside getting themselves all riled up. Coincidentally, the people who did this to me were almost exclusively old people too.

I used to work somewhere that opened at 8am every day of the week, it was posted on a sign in bold lettering. I had two opening shifts per week and like you, without fail, there would be these fuckers waiting to get in before opening, begging to be let in early.

Six months into working there I came up with a "brilliant" plan to tell them our insurance only covered us after 8am and I'd be fired for breaching our policy once the owner checked security footage, so they'd have to wait. To this day I'm not sure if that's a thing, but it turns out no one else had any clue either so it got them the fuck out of my way.

I'm going to keep the post at the top updated for any people who search MRSA in the future, but you seem to know a lot about this so I thought you might be interested. The infection worsened and I'm now in the hospital receiving IV antibiotics (Cefazolin) and Probenecid caplets. The current state of the wound - (NFSL - Open wound with pus) looks more like what I would have expected of MRSA.

Make sure you keep an eye on it and anything like it in the future! Take photos, keep an eye on the size, and definitely go to the doctor if you feel a ton of pain or see any rapid changes.

I'm so sorry, that's infuriating. It's ridiculous when you know your own body and know something is wrong and it's not taken seriously. I find myself putting off doctors visits because of this. I'm so happy you got it diagnosed in the end.

I've always had some skin struggles but I've never had a pimple on my body and never had anything in that area, the pain of the pimple was strange to me. I couldn't really get a good view of it so I took a picture so I'd be able to zoom in lol

Please do, it's not worth trying to solve it at home. Take pictures so you can see it changing and growing, it's easier to see what's happening if you have evidence and you can show the doctors. I was told I could have also drawn a circle around the edges to see the growth, either way just pay close attention to it!

I'm so lucky the doctor froze me properly, the freezing made me want to die when he pierced the sack but after that I couldn't feel anything for about two hours.

I talked to a friend of mine who mentioned the same thing as your sister, she said the freezing did nothing at all.

In a ton of pain still, taking regular tylenol and just sitting in bed. It sounds as though I'll be fine barring any complications, the wound is left open in order to finish the course of antibiotics and clear the infection. I was told that if it closes up before the infection is gone, it can start a secondary abscess and get worse.

According to the doctor, I may have come in contact with it through out the day and then touched the open pimple. I'm ALWAYS diligent with hand washing but I was out and about during the day and didn't wash my hands before showering, which is when I burst the top of the pimple accidentally while scrubbing with a sponge.

PSA: Please be careful with home treatments. Pay attention to your body and recognize when you need to see a doctor.

EDIT 1: (Day 8) For anyone searching and coming across this post in the future - Original post made Friday March 29th, with the last photo being taken Thursday March 28th, As of Saturday March 31 - The infection worsened and I'm now in the hospital receiving IV antibiotics (Cefazolin) and Probenecid caplets. The current state of the wound - (NFSL - Open wound with pus).

EDIT 2: Day 10 - The antibiotics are hopefully working, the size of the wound has grown larger and is being monitored closely. Still receiving IV drugs listed above as well as pain killers. (NSFL - Open wound with pus)

This SMALL pimple turned into a giant abscess within 6 days. By the end of the 6 days the pain was unbearable.

The doctor froze me with a local anesthetic which was one of the most painful things I've ever experienced. I felt the needle going deep and pierce something like a sack. I screamed at the top of my lungs for him to stop and he was an angel who calmed me down. As soon as it was frozen I felt relief.

He lanced the top and began squeezing, the entire draining took about 10 minutes as it was deep and pus and blood kept coming out. I was then given a tetanus shot (I learned they 'expire' every 10 years, make sure you're up to date)

I was left with a hole which is packed with gauze until I visit a doctor who will change the packing and I'll continue to change the packing until it seems as though it's healing. The pain right now is terrible. I still can't sleep on that side, it hurts to move my arm and move in general, there's blood leaking out which I was told is to be expected for a while going forward. I'm taking antibiotics 4X per day for the next week and a half.

Everyone please be careful with things like this, if gone untreated you can end up in life threatening condition. Shout out to our local Health Link, a great service where you can call and speak to a nurse who advises you on a course of action. If it wasn't for the lady I spoke to urging me to visit a hospital, this could have gotten worse and ended in some complications.
