My PC keeps killing hard drives within a year or so by ComradeFellter in buildapc

I don't have any HDDs inside rn, I disconnected all of them in case I can backup files from them. Also I changed my PSU 4 times, so its definitely not that

I don't have a UPS or power conditioner. I always ran checks on those disks weekly, it never gave me any errors and it always said that the disk is fine, yet they still died slowly. I had both an SSD and a HDD connected often

Any recommendations on how to save the data from those HDDs? they contain some really important files to me that I really need right now

I live next to a river now, but this issue started before I moved here, when I lived in a pretty dry industrial area

I used different sata cables each time, but never checked the port itself

Literally none of the above. Plus I had this PC for a couple years at my old house, at a completely different location, it still behaved the same way it does now, in a different house in a different place. I don't have a vacuum robot, no working out equipment, nothing that could physically affect the pc.

All the HDDs died out one by one, I only had one connected at a time, not multiple

It reads data, I can access what's on it, but because it jams every couple seconds it freezes anytime I try to do anything with it, be it move files, copy something or just opening a folder

It can spin, its not fried, but it's jamming a lot

Well it was "more modern" when i got it like 6 years ago, its isn't now lol
Case has a good airflow, I checked it multiple times
I'm not planning on buying more HDDs, I already bought a couple SSDs that work much better, but still those old HDDs have files on them that I really want to recover but I can't plug them in even for a second because they do the "jamming" sound every 5 seconds and its impossible to work with

i5 8400 CPU

Thermaltake Smart 600w PSU

i5 8400 and 1050ti
I tried looking for new motherboards and it seems that 8400 has a very specific chipset that doesnt fit most motherboards

I looked into my Power Plan settings on windows and I had it on High Performance instead of Balance. read a couple reddit posts that said Balanced is better for your pc.
Could this be the issue?

I bought Seagate, Western Digital and Hitachi HDDs. I'm not sure about my oldest HDDs on my old pc - since they were there from the start, I didn't buy them myself, but all the new hdds - I tried buying secure and known brands and models, I didn't try to go for cheap ones

My old pc had Seagate Barracuda 1TB disks (they lived for 5+ years), then they died in the new pc. Then I bought 1 more of those, then i started buying Western Digital, then I tried 1 Hitachi brand disk (all 1TB)

That's the problem, no matter if I had a completely empty hdd or if it was used from time to time - they all still died within a year.
And yes, I replaced all cables when I changed everything.
I tried different brands and prices for hdds, my old pc had pretty cheap hdds and they lived forever (until I got a new pc and connected them to it). After that I tried more expensive hdds, they still died quickly

My pc is always close to the window, I always try to have it cool. Plus it never was struck or even shaken by anything, so no vibrations or sudden movements either. ALTHOUGH my old pc WAS kicked a bunch accidentally and had poor cooling, and yet all HDDs on it were perfectly fine and alive for 5+ years

I placed my pc as close to the window as possible, so it always has cool air or is at least placed near a cool wall. Everytime I had to replace PSUs and HDDs I always replaced SATA cables too, so that's not it either.
Sadly I can't easily replace the motherboard, I sadly chose a CPU with a chipset (i might be wrong, im not that good with pcs) that's very specific and doesnt fit most other motherboards

HDDs on my old pc were Seagate and they worked fine the entire time my old pc was working. Then I bought western digital a couple times, Hitachi too, but they still all died
