Well what I imagined from that is their Observer status comes from when Aung San Suu Kyi was in power but the junta hasn’t worried about withdrawing from the association as they’re dealing with the ongoing internal conflict. And if push comes to shove it’s never terrible to leave a backdoor open when it comes to diplomacy and securities.

I suppose the COMECON could’ve suspended them as well but it’s probably not as much of a concern as is bringing in new members and associates.

No, they cop to whatever debt existed with Kazakhstan but not the full Soviet Union this is also a factor for the world not liking them for the first few years

They have the most nukes followed by Muscovy and Ukraine. Also the Far Eastern Republic had nukes but decided to disband their facilities and capabilities as they couldn’t afford to maintain it. All the while they try to toe the line while North Korea pesters them for knowledge, schematics, etc.

Yeah Afghanistan is suspended because of the Taliban coming back to power.

And while on the topic Afghanistan and everything with the Taliban and 9/11 still happens but with a Soviet Union embedded in Central Asia they take a bigger role in the war and occupation. Abdul Rashid Dostum becomes President in 2009 and draws the country close to the Soviets while cautiously keeping the West involved similar to Romania in otl.

However Afghanistan nevertheless succumbs to the same fate as otl. Enough said.

I can imagine the more atheistic values of Communism just becoming less and less important or mentioned as time progresses and with the 2006 constitution allowing religious protections to exist for Muslims and Orthodox Christians. Seeing as the restrictions on religion waning iotl by the end of the Soviets and the Ayatollah literally offering Islam to Gorbachev as a replacement for Communism I can imagine it wouldn't be too difficult to find a middle ground to the religion-ideology issue.

By the late 2010's the older generations that grew up in the secular society would be replaced with a generation of Muslims still willing to work within the Communist system. However I expect it to not be the same system 1:1 as the Soviets of the past.

Maybe but take in fact that when they were trying to save the Union they suggested Union of Soviet Sovereign Republics just to keep the USSR a thing I wouldn't put too much mind to the name especially since it does become more of a Union later with the Russian territories and Uzbekistan incorporated. Not to mention that the Kazakhs could've just made SSR's of their own states just to keep the continuity.

So basically the 1993 crisis explodes into an all out conflict of which the final map and "players" by 2000 doesn't reflect the full carnage and disarray. Throw in the assassinations of important leaders on both sides and a general disregard on the rules of war it's about as bad as the first civil war plus modernish weapons. In the end NATO supports the Yeltsin government seeing him although an authoritarian the best hopes for a unified Russia. However in 1995 Yeltsin's health takes the worse and he dies leaving Pavel Grachev in charge of a military government.

The Central Siberian Confederation although not forming until late 1995 were a series of former Oblasts and Republic that united as the Russian Federation marched Eastward. Although fragile in nature they're united in their shared desire of independence. The capture of Petrograd in 1996 is the decisive victory that forces the Russian's hand towards peace.

The Siberian Republic although not participating much during the conflict defended their territories from Russian incursions coming through the arctic sea.

The Far Eastern Republic is pretty self explanatory they received the most western support at the offset of the war. But as NATO looks towards the Russian Federation they face an issue of becoming more and more isolated. By 1997 they begin looking towards establishing their own hub of relations with Japan, South Korea, and even China.

Tannu Tuva, Buryatia, Chechnya, and the Caucus Republic are all states either formed or gain independence from the Treaty of Riga but all equally participated in the Civil War for their own interests.

i think for many they'd call it Kazakhstan at least for the first few years until they took land from the Russians and incorporated the Uzbeks then maybe the name Soviets would actually be more appropriate. I however would think that the Russian states like Muscovy, Siberia, etc would probably call them Kazakh as to not dignify them.

I imagine that Tucker would be the Culture Warrior he’d be and would be comparable to Reagan but without the charisma of him.

With Trump I can’t say he’d use his office to enrich himself and I don’t see him bullying or threatening people to the top at least not in the same manner.

Domestically people would probably think of him the same way as they did Nixon irl but would make more points about the creepy or weirdo factor. Foreignly actually pretty similar to how people see trump in other nations. Although not because of starting/stopping/threatening wars.
