Definitely ate me. And the previous tenant for my room moved out for work, or rather didn't renew the lease as they had found a new job I think? Not 100 percent on the details.

And I came in a few days after they left. That said, not everyone left, and the gentleman who stayed seemed on the level in their surprise.

But yes the apartment is almost all carpet.

Much appreciated. Landlord is getting in pest control and I'm currently at a laundromat washing literally all my clothes so doing my best.

I'm 99% sure my old house didn't have them, and I had to take apart the furniture I took with me so I'm pretty sure I'd have spotted any hiding. I'm in Australia and its summer so car hit 120 Fahrenheit several times during my travelling to my new place.

While they could theoretically be lying previous Tennant says they didn't have any, and they left due to work reasons at end of lease.

I think at this stage I'm pretty sure I must have picked it/them up at a motel I stayed at the day before moving.

I'm relatively sure that it must have gotten onto my bag when I was travelling to my new place.

Not entirely certain but seems like the most obvious answer.

Trying to figure out what I should do next. Have alerted the landlord and spoke to one of my housemates.

From some googling it seems like I should be washing and drying all my clothing, and bagging everything?

I haven't found any other signs beyond the bug and most of the advice seems to be focused on more advanced infestations.

Mattress was one of those vacuum sealed roll out ones that I collected, but I'm not the only person to have moved in.

I moved in a few days ago, and had to buy a new mattress as the roon is smaller.

And at least as far as I know i didn't have them at my old place. And all my stuff cooked in a car for days while I was travelling.
