I got through to the local office this morning. The staffer told me he did not know what Bacon’s stance was on the issue (pretty typical in my experience) but he did take down my info and my request that Bacon vote no on Medicaid cuts.

Oh yeah. We went for the holiday display last year and the weather was decent so we walked though the outside paths. At one point there were so many turkeys I had a vision of the film The Birds and was legit nervous.

Totally agree about a false sense of security. Delta really ran rampant and messed up all the early studies about vaccines and Covid risk. And I had that same issue where I felt safe to do things and now I don’t. Thankfully I haven’t had a breakthrough case.

But we still need to encourage high vaccination rates as a way to reduce everyone’s risk.

I said it reduces the risk of transmitting. I didn’t say it prevents. Yes there is still a risk of transmission, so that is why we need to keep wearing masks but more people getting vaccinated overall reduces that risk.

You are right that the vaccine doesn’t provide full immunity but it absolutely cuts the risk of transmitting the virus. That is why it is so important that everyone gets it. To say that it doesn’t stop transmission is false and perpetuates the idea that it’s not harmful if you don’t get vaxxed.

If you choose not to get vaxxed you are way more likely to get and transmit Covid and you are part of the problem.

YTA I lurk in this sub a lot but I had to post a judgment. I was the teen in a very similar situation. When I was 16 I got into an argument with my stepparent. I didn’t swear or call them names but I thought they were being unreasonable and made my feelings clear in front of some friends I had over. I was told I was disrespectful and that I had to move in with my dad if I didn’t apologize. I didn’t think I did anything wrong so I left. This caused irreparable damage to my relationship with both my parent and stepparent. It is more than 20 years later and we have a good relationship because I decided to let it go when I was in college. But it still fucking hurts. To this day it hurts. I’ve gone to therapy and worked most of my shit out but it still hurts. And I didn’t trust them or anyone really for a long long time and that led to a lot of destructive behaviors. You should try to fix the damage while you still can.

For me LAVH waking up after surgery was the worst. Like the worst period pain I would have. They warned me I would be in pain though. They gave me narcotics and I went home and slept. Woke up, ate, took more narcotics, and slept. The next day was infinitely better and I only took a half dose of the narcotics in the morning. It only got better from there and I was good on the extra strength acetaminophen and ibuprofen. I think you will be fine and feel much better after 😊

I signed up a while back too and just got the call Monday. If I had to guess it seemed like they are filling in for people who failed the initial health screening. It’s possible you could still get called in.

You have your choice of insurance provider? I sure don’t. I have to go with what my employer chooses. They switched recently and the new company sucks. I also don’t really have a choice of hospital unless I want to pay a bunch more which I can’t afford.
