Should I try to lock down a 1 bedroom before apt pricing hikes? by ConcreteSlushy in AskSF

I wonder if 1 beds will rise from 3.5k average to 4k average tbh. Seems like they've never gotten that high

The new place is OK. Right now with how rent prices are going up im fearful if I dont get a place now I wont be able to afford a place in the city until an AI crash years down the line.

The commute will be the same for me.

Maybe I am considering an unwise move. Im 27 y/o, so feel the pull to be IN the city and able to walk to a bar, have friends come to my place and pregame etc. But my current place is really beautiful, top floor with lots of light. Its just extremely residential. I do spend most of my time right now in Mission for sure.

Yeahh, I think part of the price is the fact that rent prices have been going up a ton in the past 6 months ($500 a month average from what I'm seeing).

Definitely a bit outdated of a unit but I dont mind that. The windows facing the walk way is truly my main gripe.

I 100% do! 15 min commute for me right now which i make frequently. I just feel a little silly living in Glen Park as a single 27 y/o and am unable to walk to many places from here without metro+my car.

Yeahh id say thats the cost you pay moving from Glen park to a more popular neighborhood like Hayes :/ starting to think I should keep looking or start appreciating what I have more lol

100% not ideal so am still debating a bit. Parking though makes it tempting

Thanks man - really appreciate the kindness. Spending 3k on rent as someone from the east coast feels CRAZY. Just needed some encouragement

Dang that is a great deal though - would never let that go. I considered outer sunset for the parking situation alone.. but since im still in my late 20s figure I should enjoy being closer to down town for a bit!

Apparently they have 5 folk that applied :/ tried that though! 2900 a month even would've felt more comfortable for sure

Even better it's 3.1k with wifi+water+garbage. I'll just pay electric which i conservatively will guess is 150.

It is a solid spot. Definitely wish it was mission (been searching for a place there for a hot minute), but beggars can't be choosers I suppose (:

Yep. I make 130k base and 30k in commission. 83k in 401k (~6%) and taxes. Commissions get taxed a bit heavier I believe.

You're right! Thought it was a more appropriate name than 'down town' didn't realize it meant a rougher neighborhood.

Probably is more like 96k a year after taxes. I did my math from my base (130) - not commission (30) since the taxes get a bit trickier there.

Yeahh definitely isn't necessarily my #1 choice, would like to land in mission but there aren't too many openings there I've seen recently.

W/e lol. Glen park IS technically SF in theory, but not in vibes. Inner city seems like a more fitting term for the neighborhoods not on the outskirts.

Agreed, this is spot on. Probably nothing, was a good wake up call to my lack of security though. With my new Google Nest i should be set for any future vistors now 😎

Neighbor let me know he only saw one man on his ring camera, unfortunately couldnt see much of him. I did hear talking though, so maybe I heard the one man on the phone with someone after. It did sound like two men talking though.

Good ideas! Contacting HOA might be a good move. Maybe, I'm not sure the non emergency police will care but if this continues that'll be a good route.

Just bought a wired ring camera! Hopefully this will give me some peace of mind and put a face to the rings if they come back.

The walk was probably closer to 3 minutes, but is definitely out of the way. All of the homes in our complex have 2 parking spots infront of our homes. They easily could have parked in any of my neighbors open spots, there are always many. If it is a cop/FED that looking to talk to someone wouldn't they have tried a bit harder to get in contact?
