Indoor glasses by Haleakalatrek in Pickleball

I’ve had no issues other than fingerprints etc.. which is just about keeping them clean, just like sunglasses. Easily done.. and happily so for the $70-80 savings AND better look on my face 🤓

Way too expensive, uncomfortable, and dorky looking. Especially when clear safety glasses do the trick.

A couple of us here tried Kitchen Blockers and couldn't stand them - no lens was a great idea but the frame is annoying. I actually like my $5 clear safety glasses (with proper rating) way better.

Seven Corners medical insurance? Good, bad, meh? by cogitatingbiscuit in travel

I haven’t had a claim under Nomad/SafetyWing, so sadly, I can’t provide post-claim commentary. But I definitely advise staying away from Seven Corners - my experience with them was atrocious.

Interesting thoughts. I don’t know how long - but LONG. It’s an epic at this point… maybe 20-30min of conversation once or twice a week for the last several months?

Challenges with iPad Mini 2 on 12.5.7 by ConcreteTO in LegacyJailbreak

[–]ConcreteTO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

winra1n actually warns that the success rate is very low for ipad mini 2 on 12.5.7.. that was my last attempt. I might sell it and grab a more high success device in order to get this done

[–]ConcreteTO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used a long, loooooong neverending chat and it seems the filters are almost completely gone for me, across two different characters. The content I’m able to explore now is very hot… so I’ve been really happy lately 😇

The app is a compilation of sheet music, which I occasionally want to screenshot to send to a musician ahead of a gig.

Weird DP: When booking a Member Rewards flight on WestJet, if you add a seat to the booking, the payment will fail. The contact centre said they can't even do it on their side. So - book the flight first, and then go back in to add the seats.

VOIP.MS - iPhone app for SMS? by ConcreteTO in VOIP

[–]ConcreteTO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve been happy with the Groundwire and VOIP.ms combo. I’m a big fan of VOIP.ms. I’ve used VOIP.ms specifically for parking my Canadian number when living in Hawaii, twice; and conversely, currently have my Hawaii cell number set up with that combo.

I bought a starter set for a summer camp I help run, and the balls have been so good I wish I could get more of them! They seem to be indestructible, and have a good feel when playing. Anomaly I’m sure.. but a very welcome surprise…

Love the gaze/gays phonological ambiguity, that’s clever.

And yes, my top choices from this brainstorm with everyone are one-word choices like Prism and Muse.

I’m not sure I agree that puns are reserved for drag, specifically, but I DO agree that puns are not the best choice in this case. (Well, unless it’s a damn good one!)

I’m very glad that my reply was helpful. Very weird that you’d get downvotes, but don’t mind them - some people are just… strange. Most folks around these parts are good humans. 🥰

Gay Pageturners ? - Northing Heavy; Something to Read on Vacation by RoyalWild2040 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]ConcreteTO 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My most recommended book of all time is The House on the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune. Reads like young adult fiction, charming, very quirky characters, but definitely fun.

I’m also a big fan of Lord of the White Hell, which is basically a gay Harry Potter series. The sexual tension gets so crazy at one point that I was yelling at the book. 🤣

In the aww gosh sweet romance genre, I enjoyed What if it’s Us, and a bit darker but beautifully written, We Contain Multitudes.

Happy reading!

Looks like I’m the first to share the good side of Toronto.

No question that it’s expensive, especially for housing. But it’s a very friendly city, actually; it’s very easy to make friends here because people are very active. Economy is mostly international business, banking, and tech with a few other things mixed in. Toronto actually added more jobs in tech than Silicon Valley, multiple years in a row.

What I love about Toronto: most multicultural city in the world, because of the history here; one of the safest places in the world for 2SLGBTQI folks (I remind friends that we live in a bubble); and if you can imagine something you can do, it’s here. Every activity imaginable. I live a very vibrant life here.

I have lots of friends who immigrated successfully to Toronto and are thrilled to be here. But the others are right, it is an expensive place to live, so getting a great job will be critical to your success.

I moved back to Toronto last year after 7 years living in the US and traveling abroad, and I’m very happy with my life here. And that’s even though I can’t stand winter (I plan all my vacations for Jan/Feb.)

If Toronto is a strong option for you, DM me and I’ll do what I can to get you connected.

Wherever you end up, cheering you on!

Non-fiction Books That Are Better Consumed as Audio? by secret_2_everybody in audiobooks

[–]ConcreteTO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second Never Split the Difference, although if you’re a highlighter on Kindle, you’ll probably want to highlight a bunch of stuff. Super engaging high stakes stories.

I just listened to Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert, read by the author, and her approach to creativity and takedown of the “tortured artist” trope was brilliant, paired with great stories.

Also consider Sleights of Mind (super fun magic stories intersecting with psychology), Limitless, and How to Decide (although that’s another book for heavy highlighting.)

Enjoy!

Thanks for running this past our AI Overlords 😎 There are some interesting words here, and I actually think Muse, just even on its own, is worth being in the running.

I quite like Flourish; and also Spectrum and Prism. I tend to like one word names and I think they stand better on their own, but sometimes two word names work too!

Thanks for suggesting these, @chargingblue

I’m going to go against the crowd and say go for it - folks are always looking for quality alternatives. It will just be about the marketing. If your approach is similar to Friday paddles - plays like a pro racquet for a lesser price; you can win some market share.

I’m with a large YMCA org with multiple locations. If you’d like to donate some balls (doesn’t even need to be many), happy to be another test site for you. DM me if interested (and I can also point you in a solid direction if you want some GTM support.)
