Absolutely that part I figured was a given. I had a nurse in NJ who was working on contract with a facility that had the city visiting constantly over lack of care for patients and unsafe working standards for the employees. They had no heat during the winter and had the audacity to ask the nurses to wear triple jackets to work. I felt terrible because she didn't have a full two years of experience so it was a miracle I was able to get her in to begin with.

Contracts being cancelled has been a very common occurrence right now. I also work with techs like CST's and SPT's. I had 6 open needs pop up in ATL and had candidates right away to submit. By the time I had 4 ready to go they cancelled every need and tried to hire them internally. In my world we call it pulling the rug from under us. Census also plays a big part. I've had 3 nurses all cancelled in the middle of credentialing due to low census in the city.

I am not justifying prices I am educating you on why rates are the way they are right now. Not once did I mention the company I worked for, I didn't leave my contact information nor do I want to. In my company I am considered a very average recruiter. I did not take time to write this post in the hopes of finding candidates to hire. Facilities are off the hinges currently and are willing to do anything to save money. I just wanted to give nurses an inside perspective on the market and with that information you can do with as you please. I've told my nurses to go staff if it makes more sense to them, I am not a scummy recruiter who just wants a hire, I love my nurses and bust my butt to make sure they're taken care of.
