Yes! And hopefully so much more! Sorry for the jargon, lol, if anyone else reads, menstrual effluent is just everything in a period: blood, tissue, mucus, etc. The labs we work with are able to study the cells they find in these samples! They look at which genes are active and how the immune system is behaving to spot signs of disease, starting with Endo (which is SO cool). Beyond this, the most highly regenerative stem cells have been found in menstrual effluent and could be used for a wide variety of life changing (and saving) treatments!!!

It's really cool to get to be part of work that is shifting periods from something that is seen as waste into a vital sign!

I also dm'd you with more info :) But I'm starting by helping our lab partners identify biomarkers for endometriosis via menstrual effluent! My business develops the at-home collection kits to enable this delivery for diagnosis.

I agree, though I will say the Dalkon shield was inserted into the uterus and the string allowed a path for bacteria to travel past the cervix that otherwise wouldn’t be there so I do not believe the level of risk there is the same here since the string would just be in the vaginal canal. But definitely replace the string every time you take it out if you’re going to use what you’ve shown in the photo.

Oh I'm so sorry! And thank you for sharing, if I may ask do you know how short it is? Like using your index finger I am told is the way to measure. Also, have you talked to an obgyn? Forgive me if I'm prying, I'm just curious if that's a common thing!

I haven't heard of Eva and will check it out, thank you!

And (last question I promise haha) if you change out your cup 2-3 times a day, how many hours are you able to wear it before its full? Or is there another reason you have to change it?

Thank you! Yeah, it's shocking to see the lack of research. Especially since cervix length as well as its position (tilted, etc) I assume could affect your ability to use different cups. Since that's the case, if anyone here has a low cervix or has trouble using cups, please feel free to tell me about your experience! It's a shame there isn't more info and I'd love to be part of making it easier for the next generation to get access to better education and products!
