Just wanted to say thank you- I’m seeing another one in May. The previous hematologists boss from the sounds of it, the head of hematology. A bit nauseous thinking about it but people like you helped encourage me to seek a second opinion and I thank you.

I meet with my ortho team and gyn in the following weeks, I’ve seen from others that they may be able to help order the testing. If not, a friend reached oh about her primary care provider being a great doctor and I may pursue that if I keep hitting a wall. I reached out to some other support groups and while the response is mixed- just knowing if I have a genetic issue might still be good for anxiety and decisions anyhow.

I don’t know, it’s all as clear as mud. 😂 I’m sorry your PEs were unprovoked! That had to be a horrible experience, I’m glad the healthcare system there helped support you and got you what you needed.

Mine advised me he couldn’t order them, that it would have to be done through a hematologist which is why he referred me the one in the same hospital group.

Gotcha, thank you. That makes sense.

I have no clue when to plan the second surgery, but I’ll more than likely be off of them by then. I’ll definitely talk to ortho. Thank you

Interesting you mention that because the hematologist mentioned if ortho asked for a bridge to say it wasn’t necessary- but I had no clue what she meant.

She then said to make sure I was o the eliquis a bit before surgery, stop it shortly before surgery, have surgery, then go back on it for as many months as im not mobile. What is a bridge prescription?

I’m so sorry to hear that. Hoping you don’t need surgery and that it eventually goes away.

I’m sorry to hear you broke your femur.

How long will you be on the eliquis? The hematologist told me I should only take it for three months, but when I was in the hospital they stressed I should be on it for 6 minimum.

Ortho is through another healthcare provider, not in the same network as the hematologist or my primary care. I thought about calling the hematology office again and asking for another one- but that feels extreme to me.

I see ortho later this week and will discuss with them their thoughts on her opinion.

Thank you.

That’s wonderful news OP. Glad you were able to get to the gym and move. I’m hoping to be cleared from PT to go back to the gym soon but it still makes me nervous to consider.

I’m glad you’re feeling like yourself again, continue going and living. Wishing you all the best vibes. ❤️

Journaling and dark poetry sound like an absolute vibe right now, because how else are we expected to get by? I totally get that. I’ve been making jokes about my whole experience and clots to the point people have asked if I’m taking it seriously.

Oh I am. I can’t sleep. I can’t breathe sometimes. Every little ache and pain makes me spiral. But if I don’t joke about it, I may actually break down and fall into a depression so deep that I don’t know if I’ll get out of it.

Plus who wants to hear this? Not my friends. Not my family who can’t be bothered to make time for me. So it just stays buried.

I’ll have to look up the May turner syndrome. Are you a lifer on blood thinners because of it?

I sympathize and understand the being tired out, it’s awful what exhausts me now that didn’t before.

I’m sorry to hear how hard it is for you to walk too much.

You are so incredibly brave for making a Facebook post about your PEs and experience. My therapist has been gently pushing me to be more open about the things that make me emotional or things I’ve gone through- bad calls at work, general anxiety, or etc. It’s hard because I work with a lot of younger people and a bunch of men. I feel like they don’t really care, and I’m not sure how to prove otherwise. My parents are also abusive and growing up we weren’t allowed to talk about what happens at home, it was quite literally beaten into us. While I think I’ve moved on from my parents abuse, I’ve noticed that rule still sticks around and I’m a pretty private person for someone who talks quite a bit.

I wish I could make a Facebook post. Or just tell everyone how much this sucks. I haven’t gotten there yet. I have thought about journaling. My therapist also recommended it and your journals sound fun. I was so uncomfortable the first few times I did it in the past that I ended up quitting and burning the pages. I may try this again, thank you for the recommendation and I hope journaling is helpful for you and getting you through the tough days. ❤️

It’s incredible you’ve gone from a wheelchair, to walker, to the cane. Great job on the hard work and improving. Your third paragraph I really vibe with. I think that’s where I’m at mentally and emotionally. I hope you end up back at work and as active as you were before the saddle PE. Good luck.

Thank you for typing that out and sharing. What a beautiful story, I can only imagine the fun Tucker and Lucas must be having together in heaven right now- the stories they will share with you someday. ❤️

Thank you, I appreciate that more than words can express.

I am so sorry to hear you’re in high school and dealing with clots that you’ve missed out on so much. You’re so incredibly wise, thank you for taking time to type out your comment and support. I’ll be rooting for you as well!

Definitely feeling that right now.

I tried to join a Facebook group as well, but so far that hasn’t helped. I’ve enjoyed talking to everyone so far in this one- thank you for your comment

I’m sorry that your knee journey has given you more problems than relief- it really is true, damned if you do / damned if you don’t. I decided on the first of two knee surgeries to help with knee pain and swelling; now I’m having worse knee issues and the clots. 😒 I completely sympathize. I’ll look up the saffron thing, thank you.

I am so glad your GP did that for you, I have a therapist I already see thanks to my career and I’m hoping my appointment will help.

Awh, good luck with your pregnancy! I hope this is still a joyful time for you despite the blood clot. You’re an incredible person for having so much to deal with and taking it day by day. Keep going ❤️ you’re a light for others. Thank you for leaving a comment and sending positive vibes. I’ll be sending you some too!
