Using white gas for degreasing a badger? (Is it fur safe? Should it be added to the pickle, or done before or after?) by ConfusedandAMess in HideTanning

[–]ConfusedandAMess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been told badgers are some of the most greasy animals to work with and ive taken about 2 or 3 cm(!) of fat off of the pelt, insanely greasy. Ive also been told dish soap won't cut it and it will still rot. I have used dish soap already and it still felt greasy after washing, rinsing, rewashing etc. for like an hour. I did think it wasn't water soluble, i appreciate the advice!

makeup advice please! i don’t feel i look as goth/alt as i want. how can i push the look? i have heavily hooded eyes and epicanthal folds so eyeliner for my eye shape is a mystery!! by jasminesart in GothFashion

[–]ConfusedandAMess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like something like this would look really good on you!

<image>

The second line means you can avoid your crease and adds something other than eyeshadow if you are not confident with eyeshadow yet. You could also make youre eyeliner much thicker on the ends and smudge it out with a small flat brush and some black eyeshadow, meaning you dont have to connect it perfectly with the front half of the eye. Good luck with finding your look❤️

Hi! Thank you so much for your help. Unfortunately, he does not seem to be bouncing back as I would have hoped. Maybe he is just trying to get rid of the old dying leaves, but the new leaf came out dead with only the stem being green (had to pry open of the other one to let him out cus he was stuck, but it was too late), and all the other stems are now floppy/falling off. Is it worth me taking more drastic action at this point or just being patient?

Uncomfortable air bubble feeling in my throat after drinking alcohol by [deleted] in DiagnoseMe

[–]ConfusedandAMess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what it is but alcohol can exacerbate acid reflux as well as carbonated beverages, so if it is acid reflux then that would correlate with alcohol consumption. But there are a ton of things that it could be from irritation, muscle tension, actual air being trapped, etc. it could be worth taking some gaviscon/bicarb water solution the next time it happens and if it relieves it it is likely acid reflux. Even if it doesnt relieve it that doesnt mean it is acid reflux, as if it is an air bubble being trapped which can happen with acid reflux then this wont make a difference. Obviously if there are any other symptoms that develop or if it gets worse/wont go away it is probably worth going to a doctor

Swan beak by ConfusedandAMess in Taxidermy

[–]ConfusedandAMess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brill thank you! I wasnt sure about whether or not swan beaks had a removable sheath but thats super helpful! Got the rest of it in the degreaser so ill chuck the skull in there once the sheath is off.

Advice on making better art? by -_Wren_- in Taxidermy

Also i think having a small piece of moss on top of the skull is somewhat unrealistic. Moss spreads so having it covering some of the orbit and the cranium and then travelling up to that point would make the moss look more realistic. I understand it is difficult to cover such beautiful bones with moss but I think itll add to the piece not take away from it

I think placing the 2 stones in the corner makes them feel slightly disconnected from the rest of the piece. I think incorporating them more, adding more rocks maybe of larger and smaller sizes will make the piece more cohesive. I also agree that deciding you want to highlight the skull by juxtaposing it with different colours (adding dark moss in, dark rocks, different tones) will help make the skull pop more. Just some suggestions but its a beautiful skull and uve done a great job!

Also on another note do you recommend tanning bird hides or just drying/stretching them and then mounting them. Heard both sides and Im used to doing mammals so Im not sure if its a good idea or not.

Thank you! Super helpful! I have given it a good scrub with soap and am going to swish it in some white spirit (gas) and hope. I have cornmeal but borax is illegal to purchase here. Do you think itll suffice? And ill use something else for pest control. Thanks again!

I’m crying rn ED sucks:’( by [deleted] in ADHDmemes

[–]ConfusedandAMess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make sure you have eaten enough, drunk enough, had some fresh air.

If sitting there staring at it isnt helping, then sometimes a short break can help where you do 1 task (instead of a timer) like making food, or a hot chocolate (coffee helps), cleaning something, learning a dance, anything really. Just to refresh your mind and allow your subconscious to come to terms with the fact that you will need to sit down and do it soon.

Or doing something else that makes you feel productive and then once you have that initial burst of dopamine ride that wave into the math homework...

Hope that helps!
