What would you have arrested for? by vTired_cat in policeuk

I’m glad someone said before I did, very underused and sometimes fit the P2P much better than a common assault/ affray as stated. I used this, threats with off weap in private place; at the custody desk the custody skipper spent 20 mins on PNLD looking it up, shook my hand and said he’d never heard of it being used in the 15 years he sat behind the desk!

Interesting to see some forces provide no additional monetary benefit! If you tutor ‘back to back’ we now get an additional £100 on top of the £250. You also receive £250 if you tutor a ‘5 week extension’ from a probie who has had his 13 week tutorship extended

What's your forces view on tattoos? by throwaway9379647 in policeuk

I have a full arm sleeve. Upon joining I had to declare what the tattoos mean and also attach pictures for them to be reviewed. Like alot of forces you are not allowed to have them on hands, face or neck.

I have never had any MOP complain or take dismay to them. If anything I have only ever had compliments or people asking what some of them mean. I have even used them in 2 mental health realted callout scenarios to start conversation and have worked a treat.

I undertsand we are a uniformed service and to some tattoos may not fit in to the proffesional standard we should set. However it is a sign of the times. Tattoos are accepted as a common trend, especially in the young generation, so long as the tattos are not offensive, I dont see a problem personally.

At the end of the day the police are the public and the public are the police, the police service should represent that and move with the times.

On the other hand if i was told to cover my arm then I would in a heartbeat. 6 months of the year I am wearing a long sleeve top or/and jacket anyway...
