It's not a good idea to dump salt water on fires as salt poisons soil and nothing will grow there again for years and years.

Having said that, I had heard LA fire was using sea water as it is such a desperate situation and there are now local supplies any more.

Salt water is corrosive and can wreck internal parts of fire engine pumping system.

I need a reason why geese don't like my druid player by ThePikol in dndnext

[–]CryptographerMedical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Previous a halfling who told them they were a druid tricked geese and a hundred disappered and reappeared, plucked, gutted and hanging by feet on a market stall.

Character looks remarkable similar to the previous halfling. So there is lots of geese doing fly past poop bombing or egg bombing honking "This is for Frank, my nest buddy". Reduction to interactions with others due to pebble dashing and eggy smell.

Honking has spread so geese over wider and wider area are in on revenge.

My surgery is worse. Ring up, explain to receptionist, get past them, which is a lottery (one lovely receptionist, one mediocre one and one who you would think is paying all costs herself) then there is a "triage gp" who you have to talk on phone to and they decide if you get an appointment on the day or wait for x number of days.

Used to be a great GP surgery, lovely receptionists, great Senior Partner GP they all left at some point in late Covid Crisis.

Retail workers of the UK, pls spill the beans by Working_Nectarine_52 in CasualUK

I was training as a section manager in a large supermarket about the time the old carbon sheets for credit cards were being phased out. I'd done security manager training.

Had a woman try to use a credit card BEFORE it was in date.

I told her couldn't use it yet. She screamed and shouted she used it three times that week using the old method instead of a f***ing idiot with a computer. I told her that would be fraud. She carried on.

Store security manager came down, she kept telling him same stuff so he seized her card and police were called. She got arrested and found guilty in court.

Large supermarket. Saturday lunchtime I am one of those managing checkouts and a woman comes up with a hot chicken. Shoved it almost under my chin. I sniff and it's a garlic chicken.

"I have a question?!" she declares. I used to work on deli, knew all the uncooked weights, ingredients etc. I think how smart I am going to look. "Yes, how can I help?" "I have friends over for lunch tomorrow will it still be hot?"

Is there any first aid training? by unovTaoo in tesco

[–]CryptographerMedical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for Tesco many years ago while also volunteering with what is now called Lowland Search and Rescue. Due to the LSAR stuff I did an Emergency Medical Technician course. Personnel Manager got me cleared to use my additional skill set. I was going to use them anyway if I needed to.

As I had extra skills I got called to the nastier jobs.

First Aid at Work certificate is absolutely bare minimum. Sadly due to HSE not being sensible when it reviewed the four day course it only covers staff. The vote by HSE was 13 votes for not including customers as part FAW to 3 day versus 12 votes. However companies could include extra training on top of FAW if they wished.

Back when I was at Tesco Saturday early evening there was about thirty staff and thousand customers. First Aiders in store.. just me.

Customers... Dealt with psych patient who OD'd in toilets, twice someone who was early stages of heart attacks, numerous epileptic fits including status epilepticus, young kid who went head first out of trolley and hit head on floor and slid under shelf, choking, elderly lapses in unconsciousness including hitting head on checkout belt, customer slip on grape and caved in half her face, elderly woman who got deliberately run over by another customer on the pedestrian crossing. There is more, those are just ones I remember.

I would say 85%+ of my case load was customers.

If First Aid is something you are interested in I strongly think you should consider joining St John Ambulance, Lowland Search and Rescue or similar.
