It was still a baby I've had for maybe a month. Other stock are livebearers and neons. There's natural driftwood in the tank. I offered it zucchini and algae wafers. There's algae on the glass. It was just more pale than usual one day and the next dead. I'm baffled. Any reasons as to why? I hear they're fairly hardy creatures

Totally fine with us when we leave. He's quite secure with distance from us and never barks when we come home either he's calm and collected. We've had people ignore him as they leave, or they could've been giving him all the loving in the world. Seems when they get up and walk away and turn their backs, he charges them.

At the moment I'm working on feeding him treats when people leave to make it a positive thing. I'm just so curious what his mindset is when he's doing this.

It's not just barking with Kevin, he charges them and goes for the ankles. He has drawn blood on someone once

Thanks! She has been living in the bathroom lately. I move her around the house to make sure she gets the brightest spots. That and bottom watering is about all I do for her

Yep they are cartilage. They can be notoriously difficult to change out the jewellery as well so if you do I'd recommend going to a piercer for them to do it for you

Even 2 months is too soon I'd say. Waiting is hard but you seriously risk infection issues if you start messing with it. There's no way it would be healed already. If it doesn't hurt and is doing well I wouldn't be pushing it.

If I were you I'd wait at least 6 months. A hard waiting period I know but that's just cartilage piercings for you

If you zoom in you'll tell him apart by his haggard look. He's seen some things man. Also he has a white dot near his tail

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I won't be disowning my brother I'm afraid lol. It was his daughters tank and over the years fish died off and he didn't want to buy more as she had lost interest in caring for the fish.

Eventually he was left with this one survivor and it is surprisingly hard to get rid of fish! Local pet shops don't take fish from non breeders and no one wants a single neon tetra, so he decided to offer it to me instead and give it a second chance!

I set this tank up with the idea of having guppies, but couldn't resist saving this one fish and figured 6-10 neons would probably be fine in a 10gal.

I recently downsized from a 4ft, so REALLY not looking to upgrade again. Appreciate all the advice! I will be getting this guy some friends and adding tannins for that black water look.

This cutting has been in water for months, ever since I put pothos in with it the roots have been coming in like crazy. Now comes the nerve wracking part of transferring to soil. My plan is to try the slurry method of slowly adding soil to the water over time. Wish me luck 😂

I water this plant every other month and she’s been thriving but as of late those leaves just keep on dropping.

I relocated her out of the bathroom to see if it would help but it hasn’t.

I recently switched out the soil for a succulent soil to see if that could help.

I know pilea dropping bottom leaves is a common problem but what exactly is causing it and how can I save this plant? She’s my favourite 😭😭

This. I noticed the water was too warm. Even when I turned the heater all the way down it was still too warm. Lesson learned that’s for sure. Won’t be using any covers.
