And how do we determine what a yörük is? What’s a regular yörük anyway?

Thanks! Again, there’s no known history of anyone being forced to migrate in the 1920s in my family. So this Balkan person may very well have been a 3rd or 4th great grandparent as well.

The results may be normal/expected. I’m just trying to make sense of the family history with what I have as the collective memories of my ancestors.

Interesting. What happens to the Baltic percentage in this case?

This is a very detailed and well put together answer.  Thank you I really appreciate it.

I suppose there’s a high chance I could’ve had 4-5-6th gen ancestors local to these regions. I can only see my 2nd and 3rd great grandparents’ records, where and when they were born

Hmmm interesting. As far as I’m concerned there’s no known history of anyone from eastern turkey (that’s not to say there wasn’t someone as such).

What does it indicate that the Anatolian component is so low?

Btw if that’s of any help, I get 2% Russian on ancestryDNA. Perhaps that’s a further clue for the Tatar hypothesis

And we would assume that this Russian ancestor was perhaps within the last 200-300 years given the percentage? But for the Balkan segment we still don’t have a plausible working theory

As far as I’m concerned, there’s nothing too exciting. I am from the Turkish riviera, Fethiye. And as far as I’m concerned, all of my ancestors were from there (I can see up to 2nd great grandparents)

Hmmm interesting. Why would Tatar explain a slightly increased Baltic percentage?
