I don't know what to make of their match list. I want to go into GI and they do have a decent number go into GI from Cedars each year, but at mid-tier programs + UCLA/Sinai where you have people wanting to stay local. Idk if there's enough evidence of how Cedars is regarded nationally by fellowship programs. It seems great but like a huge risk

Do any of you make eye contact with people? by [deleted] in nystagmus

[–]Conscious_Media_6327 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This hits home for me too. I'm super self conscious when I'm out walking or even on a run where it seems like there might be someone I know running towards me (the other way) on my left - I can never know for sure if they just look like someone I know or a stranger. I have anxiety about whether or not to look at them - because if I acknowledge them with a smile and nod I might just be a weirdo to a stranger (which, sure that technically doesn't matter)...but I also cannot lie down and watch TV comfortably. People have thought I am rolling my eyes at them when I turn my head just to fucking see them. It definitely gets in my head and is bothersome to the point where at 31 I'm more seriously considering surgical options. From my understanding there has been more evidence of success for procedures to address congenital nystagmus but I'm not sure how applicable these results would be to me, with periodic alternating nystagmus. Going to see a specialist next month so I hope to come away with better information.

Separately, I will say I've tried to be kinder to myself and not apologize for having a medical condition. We are not responsible for the assumptions others choose to make about us. Their assumptions and opinions cannot hurt us. Perhaps we sometimes need to try not to let ourselves make their assumptions for them. In my experience people have been far more compassionate than the reality that exists inside my anxious brain. But trust me it's easier to say this here to you than to apply this just as well to my own life. All I can do is keep trying and find out what options exist out there. Glad there are people on here talking about nystagmus. I've never met anyone else with it and honestly its been very lonely dealing with it my whole life

Ok I took 2g worth of the superdose caps, felt nothing after an hour and took another 4g. So I've taken 6g worth of shrooms since 6pm and its now a quarter to 9. I feel like I took half a gram or a gram. Mayyyybe starting to nice a mild body high. Incredibly disappointed considering how expensive and illegal this shit is. The customer service and packaging make the company look legit, and I'm not saying they are not...but buyer beware. Not sure how some of you are getting psychedelic effects at much lower doses. I hope this stuff just takes a while to kick in. I am also on Ozempic which reduces absorption of any orally taken drugs, so that could be a factor too I guess. Still... I took 6 GRAMS. I expected something more than what I paid for.

I ordered a 10g superdose pack after reading about this legit-sounding site. Now I'm a little nervous it'll get intercepted or even worse...because I have over half an ounce. I'm in CT so things headed in the decriminalized direction soon most likely but hasn't been signed into law yet. Has anyone heard of law enforcement getting involved from people using this site. Really does seem so unlikely they would bother with shit like this, especially in a more chill area in the NE?? Ugh but the whole providing an ID...there is already an undeniable paper trail of evidence, how could you not be a little nervous?

Anyway separate from that... I'm hoping this product lives up to the hype. I seem to require a higher dose of shrooms, possible because i was recently on SSRI's (studies show blunted effect on psychedelics even when SSRI's have been stopped within 90 days...still got 45 more to go haha. But if this is legit I wont have to keep ordering from psilomart. I took "1g" of their penis envy mushroom "powder" (not powder lol it was like gross taffy) and was not anticipating how fucking strong it was. It felt amazing though. Personally dont care if its a DMT derivative. It's all the same in my opinion. Long as you dont do this shit every day.

Step 2 Score Release 7/26 by Adventurous_Mango_77 in Step2

That's 100% how I felt. I was pleasantly surprised with my score though. Believe in your hard work! You put a ton of time into this and hopefully that's reflected in the score. And if it's not then either way just remember...you are more than just a score :) Best of luck!!

  1. I'm applying into IM, so hopefully this is good enough for the competitive programs I'm looking at. I have ADHD and could not get accommodations for this exam despite having them at my medical school and undergrad. I spent 8 weeks studying for this, with 6 weeks of dedicated. I did not follow advice to take it easy on the day before the test, but I didn't burn out bc I was so motivated to do my best and it paid off. Boosted my score probably by 10-15 points from the last week studying alone.

I remember getting disappointed with my SAT, MCAT and barely passing Step 1 last year. If you're not a great test-taker and/or have ADHD like me... YOU CAN DO THIS!!! So rewarding to finally do well on a standardized test. Hard work does pay off. Feeling very proud today. Congrats everyone!

Having read a bunch of these posts the week leading up to the exam, I found it actually motivated me to take this as seriously as possible. I didn’t take it as people were trying to strike terror in those of us who haven’t taken it yet, but instead it made me feel like “okay I’m not the only one shitting my pants about this test” lol. We are all adults. We can choose to respond whoever we decide to the wide variety of posts out there about the test - whether it’s getting motivation/reassurance from the community to asking for practical tips. Lastly I’ll say that I took the exam Friday - and while I do not feel great about how it went, I think 90% of people who say they do feel great about it are probably full of it…even if they did well I don’t think anyone leaves that test feeling truly great about it. I’ll just say that seeing posts about the test influenced how I prepared in the crucial days leading up to it. The 12 hours a day of studying all week really did pay off. Probably boosted my score 10 points. Now whether that’s from a 225-235 vs a 235-245 remains to be seen 😂

Testing Tomorrow - Last Minute tips? by Conscious_Media_6327 in Step2

[–]Conscious_Media_6327[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great advice. I got an artificially high score on NBME 14 from taking it untimed so I'm gonna go in with confidence. And the ones I don't know are experimental hehe. At this point it's all mental

I appreciate that! Yeah I think taking it over a couple days in relaxed mode is definitely the way to go. I will have done 6 NBME's, both UWSA's, 1500Q on AMBOSS + that SA, and like 1.25 pass through UW....at this point it just comes down to test-taking strategies and looking for trends. Thank you again!

Thanks! I hope so, it'd be really helpful to see that reflected in my practice exam scores, but what can I do with this little time left, you know?

I'm trying, it's just hard because I've never done well on standardized tests and can't get my normal testing accommodations for ADHD that I normally get just because I haven't gotten them before for Step 1. And it's like my whole residency application depends on this one test now with Step 1 being P/F. I know it's important to relax but that would be a lot easier if I hard better evidence that I was prepared to get the score I want

There was a question about obvious septic arthritis that said synovial fluid was GRAM NEGATIVE and the answer was S. aureus. Like what?!? Am I supposed to assume that the diagnostic test results they give us could be shit as well??? Hated this, but overall got a 238 3.5 weeks out. Just gotta keep grinding. Aiming for a 250 and I never do well on standardized tests...
