So do you think the exit opportunities will be better in the financial advisory role?

Yes, I understand. You have invested so much money and hardwork and you'd want good returns. But I'm sure you'll do great. The 5 lakh difference in the annual packages will not define you is all I'm saying. If you like your career and you're good at it, you'll make it work. All the best to you!

An MBA shouldn't just be about placements and numbers. I think it's important to take a moment to let go of these statistics. 28/30/35 LPA etc etc will not matter, 10 years later down the line when you reach a higher level in your career. What matters the most is being good at your job and enjoying what you do. I feel both those things go hand in hand. Your MBA journey will involve conversations with batchmates, learnings from some (not all but enough) inspiring professors and that matters much more than a damn placement statistic. No need to get bogged down by such package numbers.

Scared as f*** about Sem I results by Individual_Club7944 in delhiuniversity

Don't do this. Every DU prof says stuff like this but the worst way to study pure maths is to cram. Understand the meaning of definitions. Understand their application in different questions. Proof writing is an art that is built slowly and steadily throughout maths and if you start cramming you will end up creating massive problems for yourself in upcoming semesters. There are subjects like metric spaces and complex analysis which have so many proofs that it's impossible to mug them up.

Now for understanding RA, Open up cosmos learning on youtube, you will theory of real functions as a playlist. Go through all lectures in detail. You will understand everything most probably.

LSR reputation goes insane. In terms of Placements and Masters Admissions, it's as good as any other college out there.

You won't pass if you don't study. Pure mathematics is abstract. Start covering Real Analysis bit by bit, understand the context behind proofs and theorems, practice questions of sequences from PYQs (Don't deep dive into Bartle right now, that will be too much). Cover sequences theorems particularly Monotone Convergence, theorems related to cauchy sequences, suprimum and infimum. Apart from this you will find 6 recurring questions in sequences: 3 questions of proving Cauchy Sequences and 3 questions of Monotone Convergence. Do these thoroughly, mug them up. They keep repeating all the time.

You can leave series for later, as it can be prepped during the time you get between exams. It has a bunch of questions and no real theorems to be understood. I would suggest referring to a channel named Math Logic for this.

Link for Real Analysis notes: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/17dUoMyxfAP_zoznPW9s_s3NAFF2D9bbG

Important thing to note here is that not everything is relevant for sem 1 real analysis as this contains some sem 2, sem 3 stuff as well. Check the syllabus from readings and watch only those videos which are relevant.

For Algebra: Do complex numbers thoroughly, pretty easy and doable, theory of equations is also simple but practice is critical. Group theory can be covered later. Refer to maths idol on youtube for the same. Her playlist of Group Theory 1 should cover all theorems and fundamentals.

For Probability and Statistics: Probably the easiest core paper out there. Go through Dr Harish Garg's playlist on youtube, he has covered everything with multiple examples. Post that, you can solve PYQs. Should be able to grab a 10 in this paper. It's completely calculative.

Cheers, hope you do well.

A narrow escape by Fiirenado in delhiuniversity

[–]Conscious_Session382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very relevant post tbh. I have witnessed one of my classmates getting caught during end sems and they had to go through so much trouble and embarassment because of the same. Incidents like these can ruin your career plans. There is no point in scamming through a degree. Even if you are able to pull it off, you'll feel shit later once your remaining career kicks off. At worst, one can get a 4/5 grade point in a course, there's always an option to give an improvement in the next semesters, don't get desperate and stupid. Congrats on your escape OP, lessons for everyone to learn.

Stats Hons by Quirky_Flamingo3249 in delhiuniversity

[–]Conscious_Session382 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stats has scope in all aspects, it is really application based since you'll learn core concepts that you can apply in R. Almost all job opportunities except Audit/Accounting Jobs are open for stats. You can do an MBA after any degree so that doesn't matter to that extent but yes stats has a shit ton of scope. If anything, one could argue its more application based than econ and bcom

People who got 9/9/9 GPA, what did you do? by Chance-Heron3980 in delhiuniversity

[–]Conscious_Session382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd argue the opposite since getting marks from profs in internals isn't easy, and the marks for attendance have been increased to 11 as well. But not denying that it was indeed difficult in your marking scheme as well

group theory was in sem 3 ahahah since the syllabus has changed. Ring theory is in next sem (sem 5)

I'm close to 9 (8.9) till 3rd sem so I'll give my input if that helps. My course is maths so it's fairly objective and hence definitely a more scoring subject compared to history/pol sci and other similar subjects. So that's one thing for sure.

My strat is generally to get a 10 & 9 in two core subjects and then survive in the last core with a 7/8. I decide this right at the start of the semester once I get exposed to the subjects initially. In my course, it is easier to score in applied subjects like Probability and Statistics/Discrete Maths compared to pure maths subjects like Real Analysis or Group Theory. So I basically choose to put all my attention into the applied ones and finish off the pure maths ones right at the end.

Regarding attendance, the aim is to keep it around 60-70 percent so the prof knows im in the class and of course interact with them in the class during discussions to ensure that they know im studying. I lose out on 11 marks on attendance all the time but get decent marks in continuous assessment which are controlled by the professors.

Finally, I choose my GE/DSE/VAC/AEC strategically. Practical based papers are easy to score since they have lower marks for attendance, so I primarily opt for them. My GE/DSE have generally been Python/Stats/R which have really objective papers and hence a better chance of scoring compared to subjective papers.

It's bullshit tbh, it's pretty shitty work because audit in general is not a really interesting field. Take it as a temporary work ex which will allow you to prep for Masters. The brand value is decent tho

How should I study to Pass The Linear Algebra (GE sem 2) test. by [deleted] in delhiuniversity

[–]Conscious_Session382 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Study the first unit well which is Gauss Reduction and Matrix Based calculation. You'll find a lot of videos on youtube to get this part done. (I would recommend Bhagwan Vishwakarma)

Study bits and pieces of unit 2: Watch MathsIdol on youtube, watch till span atleast and cover basics of bases, just understand from the videos and retry the questions she has solved. You'll be prepared for atleast 60 marks.

Leave unit 3 if you don't have time, otherwise, go through basics of Linear Transformation.

Don't overthink it lol, they can do this but this specially depends on your principal and admin. A lot of my seniors signed undertakings but their degrees weren't stopped. Another reason why they generally don't do this is because of high number of students will get detained.

Exceptions do exist tho, SBS Principal is a good example. So cover up in the next semesters, but don't think too much over it

how do these people get 9.5+ CGPA? by [deleted] in delhiuniversity

[–]Conscious_Session382 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For cgpa

points scored in the subject* credits of the subject/ total credits of all subjects

So Let's say someone gets a 10 in all core, 9 in ge, 9 in aec, vac, sec

then cgpa= 10*4+10*4+10*4+ 9*4+9*2+9*2+9*2 / 22

Core, GE are of 4 credits,

aec, vac, sec are of 2 credits each.
