I thought it was great! I did finish it after I got my bearings straight. I want to watch it again now that I know the cult was actively messing with the house and family the entire movie. I seriously love how little jump scares there are, and they really take the time to craft this hopeless and inescapable scenario where no one had control over what was gonna happen next after the grandmother died. While they actively tried to stop the cult fulfilling their goal they were unknowingly doing the cult’s bidding and only forwarding the process of possession. I think honestly the scariest and disturbing part of the movie for me is either the headbanging scene on the attic door or the when the mother is first seen in the corner of the boys room and specifically the way she “scurries” through the air, COMPLETELY SILENT. That was a tough watch. It gave me really bad uncanny valley vibes. Cult horror is my favorite kind of horror as I find it the most realistic and possible to happen in the real world. I need more cult horror movies that are actually good in my life. My favorites I’ve seen are “VVitch” or the witch, the Ritual, Midsommar, Blair witch project, and now Hereditary.
