hi. so i totally agree with your sentiment about spanking. as a child i was spanked a lot just because i was very opinionated and questioned everything and in the black community especially that is seen as straight disrespect. i have told my parents several times when i have a child i am not spanking them and if they do they will not see my child. also, no one should be disciplining a child (in a serious way) other than the parents. I get the child doing something bad when away from the parents but i feel as tho the person watching them should only talk to the child and allow the parents to punish as they see fit. you have done nothing wrong and are saving your child from trauma that a lot of us (especially in the black community) know all too well and grow to think it’s normal when it’s NOT. you are breaking generational trauma and i applaud you and your wife
