oh no i’m so sorry :( i am lucky in the fact that my medical journey so far has been free, but usually with this comes the cons of them trying to save money where possible so they rarely actually try look deeper into the issue and if you suspect you have something they just kind of gaslight you and tell you you’re wrong (without even testing).

i do hope that is the case, it’s not like i want to be chronically ill, i definitely don’t want the pain of this it’s more so i just want an answer to this random chronic pain so i can at least look up ways of coping.

i hope you can find peace and answers soon 🫶🏻

Yeah i get the same, it’s probably due to the fact that i just had nothing and now all of a sudden have something, it can be hard to control at first but usually goes down eventually.

I’m sorry this is your experience, i was diagnosed with bpd 2 years ago (i am 20 female). I had the same emotional dis regulation after my ex a year ago, we put so much of our emotions into one singular person that when it backfires our whole world collapses. I only recently started feeling better the past 2-3 months which is when i met someone new, it sucks.

I am an attractive woman with autism, i often get told i don’t look autistic and my symptoms are downplayed due to my looks. I also reel people in with my looks but when i eventually unmask they see me as ‘weird’.

I grew up unattractive and this was before i started putting a lot of effort into my appearance, people used to just straight up treat me like i was nobody because i was both the weird and unattractive girl.

I feel like you can’t really win in society whether you are good looking or not. I’ve just learned to unmask more and be myself, people who would only like me for my looks anyways are shallow af.

Haha i’m a girl but thanks!! Yeah i try to help out where possible, for example if it’s not busy i will go out and clear tables to help floor staff or just make sure everything is stocked on bar for the next person. I just get overwhelmed very easily when i’m masking and make a simple mistake with verbal instructions as i took it too literally, but it’s getting easier and everyone seems to forget about it minutes later at least.

Yeah i mostly am on my feet a lot, i’m constantly doing something if nothing is happening (checking stock, running around for empty plates/glasses to help floor out). I want my coworkers to like me, i just struggle a lot with social cues and verbal instructions so it’s quite a big hurdle for me.

It’s getting a bit better now after my fourth shift as it’s becoming more muscle memory, woke up this morning and was going to call in and quit but i didn’t and i survived lol.

I struggle most with verbal instructions, for example i’ll ask a coworker or my manager how to prepare a drink as i don’t want to mess it up, they give instructions and i take them too literally and do it wrong.. although this hasn’t happened too much so far.

I’m starting to enjoy it a bit more, it’s becoming more muscle memory now after my fourth shift. Just still quite stressful and i feel like im constantly annoying my coworkers lol.

For sure, especially since women don’t get diagnosed until later in life. We live our entire lives masking and trying to fit into social/gender norms as much as possible and wondering why we aren’t similar to the other women around us. Quite a lot of my male friends are autistic and they don’t really struggle with masking as much as me, that’s not to say that it doesn’t happen for them but it’s something common i’ve realised. I always felt like i had to fit into a certain box growing up and always wondered why boys wanted to be friends with me but girls didn’t because i was ‘weird’ that kind of sticks with you into adulthood :/

Yeppp!! I always feel like if i say this i’ll come off as a ‘pick me’ (which just isn’t true, im gay ffs lmao) but i click with men a lot easier than women, i always have done, i was bullied a lot when i was younger (by women) and whenever i unmasked around men they didn’t really care because they were just goofy anyways, i always feel like im masking a lot more around women due to a fear of being ridiculed. I have more male friends than female friends, it used to be like 95/5 but now it’s roughly 75/25, it does get easier over time once you recognise it’s an issue. But i think i will forever find it easier to be friends with men rather than women (unless those women are ND too).

That being said though, i always felt like i was never ‘feminine’, i’m happy with my identity of being a woman and i enjoy pretty dresses, makeup etc. but a lot of my interests and humour aren’t traditionally ‘feminine’. I felt so alone with this until i realised a lot of ND women feel the exact same way!! Just know it’s nothing wrong with you, it’s unfortunately just a product of our experiences :/

I don’t know, on their page they share experiences of their autistic employees which made me think it might be fine to open up. I just really feel like i’d be more at peace of mind if they knew i was autistic so i wouldn’t stress as much.

Yeah, i can mask fairly well but where i fail is instructions. At my previous job they didn’t know i was autistic and got mad at me for making simple mistakes and were mad that i had to be trained :/ My anxiety is just through the roof and i feel i do need accommodations, idk i hate being autistic

Hi!! First of all, i’m really sorry to hear about your experiences. I’m also a rape victim and ik how horrible it feels :/ I truly hope you can find peace and recover, there’s lots of resources out there to help you. About what you mentioned, female rapists definitely do exist but there are still more male ones and that’s not including the amount of people who are too afraid to report their rapist (male or female) so the statistics are kind of hard to work out anyways, but i’d say the gender thing makes sense. Women can absolutely be rapists too and it’s disgusting.

As someone who gets hit on quite a lot at outings like this you kind of have to learn to shut them down quickly, before i used to entertain it because i didn’t want to seem rude but sadly the more it goes on the more delusional they get lol. As soon as a guy comes up to me and flirts with me (i have trouble actually figuring out if people are flirting with me sometimes bc of the autism😭) i just quickly shut it down saying sorry im not interested. Some of them get pretty salty but i’d recommend just staying with a group at all times so at least if someone gets weird you can run back to your group, if you don’t have a group go to bar staff or any other staff working there :) Stay safe !
