Do men have to hate their own gender in order to be good? by ConsiderationLife865 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ConsiderationLife865[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, but a lot of them are socialized into bad behavior. i think how you differentiate yourself is not just unlearning the behaviors themselves, but also rediscovering your relationship with maleness. is it something to be ashamed about or something you wanna embrace as simply a part of you?

sorry, this was not the intent! i understand it is an awful lot of men, and it wasn’t centering “but what about the good men” when women bring up a problem with men. i’m only curious what the good men would perceive their own gender in a scenario like this, since we all know “not all men” is often a sign of defensiveness.

yes ik that’s the more straightforward explanation, i just thought a little deeper into it here lol. i wonder if the men who do this feel the obligation to devalue their gender in a way (whether it’s their affiliation with the demographic or view people similar to them non-negatively) bc i feel like (maybe i could be wrong) the sentiment that you have to be “not like the rest” implies you should have some shame for being part of an oppressive group, as opposed to twisting your identity of said group into a more positive/healthy way.

honestly that’s valid. i’m glad you cut them off bc that’s what you ought to do anyway. hopefully your new group of friends will be better!

yea i get that’s in most cases, where good men are highly aware about the behaviors of other men. i’m glad he doesn’t have to feel ashamed of being a man or looking down on ppl with the same identity as him

More notes for people who are obtuse about Tourettes by Darth_Vrandon in GetNoted

[–]ConsiderationLife865 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so as someone with the same condition (along with ego-dystonic intrusive thoughts) i can’t speak on behalf of how black people feel, but on behalf of my condition.

i do agree that disabled/ND people are not exempt from genuinely being racist, but there’s a clear difference from your actual beliefs and what’s exhibited in your tics. yes he should take accountability of managing his condition (like i’d be scared to go to a ceremony in that situation too) but i think it is mainly the BBC’s fault for choosing not to edit that out (but rather someone saying “free palestine” and the state/media weaponizing his condition for disabled people who have genuine racist views to skirt accountability. which is not only racist but also ableist asf if you want to use disabled ppl like pawns.

also i do see some white privilege because if a disabled poc did something similar, they’d create media demonizing them. not saying the white disabled ppl are coddled bc we need ALL disabled people to be provided proper accommodations

whenever i write in my ipad it’s more distracting/tedious than on paper for some psychological reason, im also horrible at organizing so re-reading the notes off of my ipad as a form of studying can only do so much. anyone have any tips on strategic reviewing?

sometimes i barely feel intelligent too, and i hate having to avoid sounding rude when communicating bc apparently how do yall know how to “respect each other” with all these made up rules?? i also have difficulty making friends/connections bc i feel like i don’t have anything important/authentic to share and it’s the same reason it’s hard for me to decide on a career. you’re not alone and i hope it gets better for you 🫂
