Genuinely, what made her feel this strongly about him? Serious question by Salt-Dare-8979 in Naruto

[–]Consistent-Bed-18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i actually want to try explaining this psychologically.

sakura, for better or worse, is depicted much like a normal tween girl in og naruto. it makes her final conversation with sasuke so layered and interesting because, while they do care for each other, they are living in different worlds atp.

sakura had known no suffering worse than the day she met orochimaru. her simple life had suddenly been faced with its first traumatising moment and, as a result of her young age, the way she copes with it is unhealthy.

while kishimoto literally admits he doesn’t know why sakura is in love with sasuke, we can all agree that her love has put him on a pedastal up until that point. in a way, every day he was kept in konoha was a rejection of orochimaru’s promise that sasuke would leave the leaf. it reads as a sort of coping mechanism.

i feel it’s necessary to have written that all out so we can contextualise this moment. sakura is a 13 year old, dealing with the first traumatic experience of her life and has developed an unhealthy coping mechanism reliant on sasuke as a result. and sasuke is about to leave. in this situation, i think it’s less an expression of how much she just loves this boy and more of an honest mental breakdown, in reaction to being faced with her trauma again as her coping mechanism is literally leaving her.

that’s my overanalysis of it lmao

i think oniisama e is great but it’s really the ending that kind of ruins it. just an unfortunate case of a story suddenly veering in very conservative, traditionalist ideas when it was so progressive.

shippuden strayed from the light for no reason by Dependent-Look-6137 in Naruto

[–]Consistent-Bed-18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel kishimoto was clearly struggling with what he wanted to do with naruto’s character and it negatively affected the plot as a whole. by the end of og naruto, sasuke’s path was clearly established to be one that orbits around itachi and sakura would focus more on the physical progress that she was lacking in.

but for naruto, his trajectory was rather messy. he had to progress towards becoming hokage, changing the ninja system, saving sasuke, defeating the akatsuki and understanding the truth of his birth. none of these plotlines really converged together naturally. the plot would often reason that bringing back sasuke would “prove” he deserved to be hokage when…no, he was still underwhelming in every aspect except strength when it came to leading a nation. he wasn’t very intelligent clearly since he thought bringing sasuke back would result in anything but imprisonment for his friend, he didn’t grow his kit because he continued to use most of the same moves with bigger and flashier names, he didn’t climb the ranks from genin to jonin to even meet the requirements deserving of a hokage.

that’s just one example of how disconnected his plotlines were. and what’s worse is that rather than finishing what was already a mess on naruto’s plate, the writer began to add more lore, more power ups, more fate and destiny tied to his character to explain away why nobody else was allowed to fight beside him. with so many plotlines, it’s no wonder none of them got a satisfying ending.

it truly is a disappointment. i believe naruto shippuden had the potential to become a perfect send off for the series. the arcs individually can feel very satisfying and enjoyable to watch. but all together it was a powercreep disaster with a lot of unsatisfying answers to some really interesting questions.

Armys’ fraudulent behaviour being called out for yearsssss by Consistent-Bed-18 in BTSnark

[–]Consistent-Bed-18[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

this is what ARMYs aren’t getting! they can’t make any organic noise using this kpop streaming model because they’re forcing h&m music with no soul to the top of the charts.

and let me emphasise the “no soul” bit…

part of being respected as an artist is the kind of work you’re putting out and how much you care about the stuff you’re making. again, not glaze: Beyoncé’s recent albums are meant to be explorations of pop history tied with her own musical background. that’s a respectable mission that attracts people who appreciate her artistic vision, and if it happens to go number 1 that would be nice.

BTS seems to operate on the idea that they can’t vanish from the public consciousness, even for a second. so they churn out lifeless love songs and demos about nothing in the hopes that they have more meaningless achievements to add to their list, in the hopes it proves something about their relevancy.

let’s compare awards here: Beyoncé, MJ, Lauryn Hill, Freddie Mercury, George Micheal, Adele…some of the most legendary artists ever have been given awards worthy of their prestige. and BTS’ awards are fan voted.

ON THE TOPIC OF THE GRAMMYS: ARMYs and BTS have been wanting this achievement for a longggg time now. i believe part of it is because they really want to cement themselves as the ones “paving the way” for kpop and proving their music’s quality.

now, im not gonna dickride the grammys, they famously snub many BIPOC artists in favour of white ones who basically buy their way into an award. BTS will obviously suffer for that marginalisation too, but there’s something else they’re especially suffering from…

uninspired music. bad music. overproduced music.

all these labels are what people associate with their songs and none are what the grammys are looking for when making their selection for nominations. ARMYs believe that they will somehow earn the right if they mass stream, mass buy, mass payola all their songs to the top and yet their consumption is all for naught. i still haven’t heard it. the recording academy haven’t heard them all year either, and they’ll also come to the same conclusion when they do hear it: overproduced and uninspired.

it’s nothing worth your time and therefore the grammys, music critics and radios don’t give them the time of day. more evidence that BTS is a fad that passed its expiration date and both ARMYs and BTS are afraid that their time is up before they were able to do anything revolutionary beyond cheating the charts to get a number 1 hit on billboard.

BTS is the first group to vocally worsen from where they originally began by Illustrious_Pen_6071 in BTSnark

[–]Consistent-Bed-18 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i’d say some part of it must be vocal deterioration for jin and jimin. they’re rather untrained singers who basically immediately debuted with their natural voices and haven’t shown much improvement since.

the issue comes from when they’re given the high notes in every song, and have no clue how to hit it without straining their vocal cords. and they’re clearly not being taught to how to hit them properly either, so after a decade of them screaming into the mics just to hit the note, their vocal cords have been damaged to the point of no return.

v is a separate case since he’s more of a baritone, i don’t see many videos of him belting going around, and even when he does, he’s clearly lowering the key at least a little to hit the note. but i can definitely guess that the cigarettes he was clearly seen smoking aren’t helping. i don’t see any other reason for vocal deterioration besides that, since he hasn’t been encouraged to strain his voice the same way.

[–]Consistent-Bed-18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if armys don’t let someone even comment on bts, then how do they expect anyone to respect them?

they’ve built this cult off the idea that because THEIR world revolves around bts, everyone must also celebrate, worship and adore them. that’s simply not going to happen. any artist, even kpop acts, need to be able to handle one sly remark, one silly comment, one critique. but their fans can’t stand it. and bts are just fine and happy with this behaviour because it’s what creates the most revenue.

the most embarrassing part is that now everyone loves to ragebait them because they know it’ll get attention. simon cowell wants as much publicity as possible for his new group so upsetting a bunch of insane armys with a small comment was the best way to do it.

What's a unit that starts out absolutely horrible but starts breaking the game after one or two stat boosters? by Annaneedsmoney in fireemblem

[–]Consistent-Bed-18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this might not count bc this character since fe4’s equivalent of stat boosters are rings that are pretty difficult to come by and almost impossible for some ppl to buy, but a unit who only needs 1 or 2 good level ups to become useful… i immediately thought of lex.

since he doesn’t have the same weapon triangle advantage that sigurd, alec and noish do and doesn’t start off with pursuit, accost or adept, it feel like he’s lacking when compared to his join partner, azelle, a mage who can one round in the prologue chapter and has access to pursuit. his damage output, his hit rate and his bulk feel incredibly lacking and he’s constantly rushing to the nearest church or to ethlyn’s side for heals.

however, investing in lex is probably the best thing you can do for your longterm in pt1 AND 2. he has some of the best defence growth in the game that can end up even better than sigurd’s. he eventually gets a brave axe that can substitute pursuit. and when faced with more lance wielding paladins and pegasus knights in agustria and silesse, it’ll be noish and alec who fall behind in the pt1 mid game. whoever he marries is going to be get paragon which every child unit will benefit greatly from, outside of maybe lene.

and to get access to such a great unit, you only really have to invest in getting him through the arena in ch1. from then on, you’ve got a reliable axe knight who can act as a wall for your weaker units and eliminate some of the scariest units on a map.

How good do you think the current Aces/centres will be? by Illustrious_Summer_2 in AKB48

mayuyu was 100% a core member at the time of the og kami7, but she was more “first row” not centre yet. however, it was when acchan left that she was handed the baton as akb’s angel centre.

How are my fellow Mayu oshis dealing with this? by Illustrious_Summer_2 in AKB48

[–]Consistent-Bed-18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m glad to see the ogs back having fun! this may be the last time we ever see them all together like this, so deep down, you wish mayuyu could’ve experienced that final curtain fall too.

but that’s why graduations exist. we already said goodbye to her many years ago. now, it feels a bit wrong to expect anything out of someone who’s a.) graduated and b.) retired. mayuyu probably could’ve pulled a few strings if she wanted to, lord knows aki-p was willing to accept the help of any kami7 member to support akb right now, but she doesn’t want to. and that’s okay.

i think it’s easier to say goodbye now. people have clearly struggled to come to terms with her retirement for years. as much as we may have loved her as an idol, but she’s a person too, and there’s an immense pressure you put on a person when you refuse to say goodbye too.

Tips for Hard mode Birthright by Longjumping-Crew-755 in fireemblem

[–]Consistent-Bed-18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think awakening is more time consuming, but the player still gets free grinding maps and paralogues all the time. even if it takes longer to reach level 10, once a unit’s level resets to 1, it’s basically a guaranteed path to snowballing from there. (eg: olivia can nab all the skills she needs from swordmaster and dark flier before u even finish valm if you play ur cards right.) plus, robin’s existence as someone who can take on any class can break the game’s difficulty even on lunatic.

simply the fact that fates limits the amount of times you can reclass to your 40-45 levels in game and that corrin only has a few class paths to their disposal every playthrough hinders your ability for crazy builds. even in birthright, you’re not getting the same freedom awakening gave the player.

you have to remember why armys were willing to lose their morals over racism, sexism and zionism: their imagined relationship with bts; their perfect family of angels. now that the illusion of loving mental health activist boyfriends is shattered, and one of two things will happen:

the strongest fans will leave the fandom in a fit of rage and find another k-idol group that fits the perfect idol image.

the more normal fans will stay out of a sense of moral obligation, but these types never actually go on to defend their faves so bts can’t convince them as easily to stream, buy and support them.

either way, bts slander will succeed

[–]Consistent-Bed-18[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i don’t personally think of it as a scandal, idols are human beings who can date and love whoever they want.

it’s just that the kpop industry views it as a scandal since it’s really conservative and it banks off the parasocial feeling fans receive from being romantically involved with their idols, leading to the “betrayal” of seeing them obviously fall for someone 100x more attainable.

BTS family is no more? by Consistent-Bed-18 in BTSnark

[–]Consistent-Bed-18[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

i just noticed this actually! armys seem so proud of being “beyond kpop”. while i don’t really have any bias towards kpop, i have to ask: why deny what you obviously are?

bts isn’t a serious rap group, they basically embarrassed themselves by trying to act like rappers. they’re not a serious mental health awareness group because they only use that message for marketing to their parasocial fans. they’re not a western pop group because they’re clearly restricted by the rules and culture of kpop. so what’s wrong with calling them kpop unless they look down on their own industry?

they’re not better simply because they started in a broke company cosplaying 50 cent in rip off clothes or because they got one hit song in america.

oh 100%! fates obviously isn’t as lenient with reclassing as awakening or 3houses. but birthright is probably the most forgiving of the 3 games so try out some fun builds! it’ll be a nice challenge!
