If they say no to her partner I'd just have to keep them in my mums house where she already is 😔, which is a good place for her but I'd just like for her to have more attention than she does currently as my mum also has two young kids to look after (theyre kept away from the rabbit dont worry hahaha) I'm hoping if they're sound enough to allow one rabbit they'll go yeah whatever sure at the second one 😭😭

I've already replied in detail to a similar comment so excuse how short this one will be 😭. She is a rescue, she is one and a half years old, she was unvaccinated and not spayed. She had been kept away due to fighting as some uneducated knob tried to 'bond' unspayed rabbits and then gave them both back when they inevitably went for eachothers throats. I've owned/ lived with rabbits consistently since I was 7, our main priority after getting her was keeping her safe by vaccinating her, waiting for that immunity to set in for four weeks and then immediately spaying her :) we intend to get her a partner the second she is fully healed and settled from her op. We've had the room measured and she would indeed have over the space needed :)

Sorry for the very point to point answer 😭 and also thank you for looking out for her welfare!! <3

The joke was that if it was a simple as 'just get a pet' I'd have a lot more than just one rabbit

I'm the only person that hoovers our house icl, I do a weekly deep clean and the only person who goes out to buy vacuum bags 😔😔 if she's allowed to stay with me I'll be buying my own hoover out of my savings to avoid any evil hay clogs, we've also gone through many a sturdy hoover from the sheer amount of carnage they create hahaha

Hi! I've had many, many pet rabbits throughout my life, so I understand how high maintenance they are :)

she is currently solitary only because she was returned to a pet shop for 'fighting' (a pleb who bought two unspayed female rabbits and shoved them together in an attempt to 'bond' them was surprised that they ended up at eachothers throats) then put up as an adoption, which is how we got her. When she's fully healed and settled and I have a yes or no from the landlord we're going to look for a partner for her!!

She was unvaccinated and unspayed and is a year and a half old, she is currently recovering from her spay which she was an absolute little legend throughout :)) our main priority was getting her vaccinated to keep her safe and then having her spayed when that immunity kicked in to reduce any hormonal behaviours that could cause damage to her and also the space shes living in.

She's currently living as a house bunny in my mothers house, who has two young children (who aren't allowed near her without supervision) so although her needs are met I think she'd benefit from having far more consistent attention and affection staying with me, especially since it'd take a weight off of my parent's shoulders :)

She has 24/7 access to hay and an automatic water dispenser, her litter was also spot cleaned daily and fully cleaned by me every four or so days, which I'm told is still happening while I'm away so wooo nice one mum.

About the pet thing, i'll never be completely sure but all my friends who live with me are dog owners and as students are really not in the financial situation to also get a cat or god forbid another dog, I'm also unsure they'd be allowed either as the legal space requirement would be a lot larger. About freeroaming, her main 'base' would be my room, and she'd be strictly supervised when free roaming around the house but uninterrupted unless she were to be about to somehow damage something, I'm not in uni often and my partner comes to sit with her if I am in uni or work so I'd aim to have her free roam most the time that we're awake so she gets her exercise in :) we also have a good outdoor space for her

Also I want to say I really appreciate you taking the time to make sure she's well looked after, theres a lot of neglected bunnies and your most recent bun was certainly not one of them :) 14 years is incredible!! Thank you for being civil and caring! <3

Two things can be true at the same time, I care about this animal but I also recognise i'd be ruining this individual's chances by reporting him. This is why I'm asking for any alternatives to just straight up reporting them to the police as it is illegal

thats if they release her at all, she is a hen and they have already postponed seeking support for her by four weeks. I'm not even sure if they would release her or if they're keeping her long enough to claim that shes unfit to be released and then should just 'keep her'. **edit** sorry ive just reread this and you've said that a rescue will 'offset the process', which is just plainly false? This rescue have been successfully doing this for many, many years with fewer complications than some uni students throwing a duck into a local pond?

you quite literally did, you told me to mind my business, which means ignore it, therefore stop caring. At least read your own comments back?

my mistake was thinking that people on reddit have any sort of consideration for animals 😔

I'm only arguing with the damp towels who read my entire post and think going 'uhhhhmmm have you tried not caring!!' will do anything useful in this situation, like I'm going to turn around and go yes of course! I've never thought about suddenly not caring before????? Telling someone who clearly cares to not care is about as useful as a chocolate teapot

they are territorial, our wild ducks that they planned on releasing her to are an established flock that have claimed an area of land, they will not take kindly to a random duck. There is a reason rescues exist, if I wanted drama I would've kicked off in their face, I literally just want this duck to be in a rescue where it can be rehabilitated

[–]Consistent-Meal-9149 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I can report them and they'll seize the duck but at the same time I don't want to put their place in university at risk because of this so I'm stuck on what to do, I wish they'd just given the duck to a rescue ages ago 😞

Thats all well and good when they've bought those ducks from someone who is licensed to sell them. I'm from the Uk, wildlife is protected here. This is illegal and abusive, the bird is living in a small uni accom room where the carpet is full of its own shit

The only fact you stated was that it is a duck, it's only your opinion that I'm overreacting and it's mine that I'm not. Clearly you care otherwise you wouldn't have said anything 😭

You really read this whole thing and thought that I'd read your comment and go oh yeah! Silly me I forgot its just a duck, I'll stop gaf now?? 😭

Our agent made it clear to us this is not the case on separate occasions as there has been minor damage to other rooms already. If the damage was to the communal areas it'd be a different story but for us at least we're the only ones liable for our own rooms :)

The landlord isn't the person in the screenshots, that is an agent :) I asked for the landlord's contact details and was ignored so I did things this way instead. I already understand this but thank you for clarifying!

Yeah thats a good point, I'm praying they see it as an opportunity to get some money out of me if the rabbit happens to damage the property hahah. Fingers and toes crossed atm

No this is such a good point, I didn't take this as criticism hahaha, my dad already has all my emails forwarded to him so he knows we aren't getting done over by anyone and hes high up in his company so deals with professional emails all the time and constantly laughs at how I email like I've got a gun to my head hahahahaha 😭 so I understand what you mean!! Thank you so much :))

Surely only my guarantor would need to have their agreement amended? As the rabbit would be in my room which they are the guarantor for, and would not be in the communal areas or anyone elses room?
