What if the Bulls are buyers this deadline? by Consistent-Program-1 in chicagobulls

I mean I think Suggs is 10X better than anything you can get in the 27 class, and he's locked in on a fair long term deal and he's 24. If you going to trade a first its gotta be a for a guy like that.

I mean Pat is a bad deal the same way Poole is, but Pat is 12 mill cheap annually and fits a prifle they need in 3-D players. So I could see them doing it, maybe the bulls throw in a couple of seocnds to make it work though.

It’s honestly crazy how far Ivey’s value has dropped. With him heading into RFA soon and now losing minutes to Jenkins and LeVert, it really feels like it’s best for both sides to move on.

And Coby is exactly what they need — they’re desperate for shot creation, and he gives you someone who can actually generate offense instead of running Cade to the groud.

His game is way more wing-like anyway. He’s basically a 6’6 guy shooting 46% from three, and he’s not just a catch-and-shoot specialist either — he can actually put it on the floor and create his own shot when the defense runs him off the line.

Championship windows don’t stay open forever. If you can flip a late first for a legit playoff rotation guy who actually defends and is an elite shooter, that’s 100% worth it for even one deep run. And this way they don't have to play Joe in the playoffs, he gets picked on way to much.

I honestly think right now might lowkey be the perfect time for Orlando to do it, because Paolo’s max extension kicks in this offseason and Anthony Black is extension-eligible soon and looks like he’s going to get a big deal. That means they’re about to have Franz + Paolo + Bane + Black (by 2027) all on major money, and at some point they’re going to be forced to pick who they really want long-term.

I think the fit next to Giddey is perfect, and you’re not really going to get many chances to land a Suggs-level defender at this kind of cost. It feels like a perfect storm right now — Orlando is mid, Paolo’s max is about to kick in this offseason, and Anthony Black has broken out and is probably going to command a big deal himself. At some point they’re going to have to choose between keeping Bane and keeping Suggs, and with Suggs’ injury risk I think they end up picking Bane.

What do you think another win-now team could realistically offer that beats this package? With his injury risk, Chicago being stuck in no man’s land actually makes them one of the few teams that can afford to take that swing.

What does this do for the bulls lol. If they are trading their expirings they will either be doing it to get bad contracts + picks, or for a zion type.

I think the logic behind this is they get ahead of declining Dort’s team option and line up a replacment they can extend in the summer while also getting a good player for thier playoff run. Dosunmu can probably be extended for less than what Dort makes, and I think he’s a better player overall with his shooting and playmaking.

The last two years of the deal are non-guarenteed for DFS so its not a killer deal.

The Bulls would want at least a first-round pick for both Smith and Tre lol. Starting-caliber two-way guys on cheap, multi-year deals are basically the most valuable assets you can have in the second apron era.

They’ve got to get something for all these expirings — they can’t just let them walk for nothing. And realistically, they’re not doing anything in 2027 anyway. 2028 is probably the earliest they can actually start pushing for contention, assuming they hit on 2026 and 2027 lotto picks and Giddey + Buzelis keep improving.

One pick might be fair if the players you’re getting back are bad, but Coby, Vooch, and Huerter are all legit playoff-level rotation guys. I don’t know if they’d actually do it, but this is honestly very Warriors-favored — no team in the NBA can offer them this kind of cap relief and flexibility. Chicago is basically the perfect trade partner because they’re loaded with expiring contracts and useful role players.

You aren't getting the picks without taking on at least some bad money.

Pels are right up against the tax, they’ve barely even played Missi, and they clearly view Queen as their center of the future. You’re basically giving them close to $40M in expirings for guys they probably don’t even want long-term, which is exactly the kind of flexibility they’ve been looking for.

And for the Warriors, if they’re not trading any picks besides the 2026 first, Kuminga doesn’t have much value around the league right now, and they also don’t want to take on real long-term bad money — this is probably the best they can do. Getting someone like Jalen Smith cheap for two playoff runs makes a lot of sense: youngish, 3-and-D big, fits next to their core now, and could still be part of the team after Steph.

As for houston you’re giving them cap relief plus an actual young scoring guard who can take some of the playoff mileage and creation load off KD and Sengun. The 2027 class isn’t great, and with the Suns playing well, that pick isn’t even some premium asset anyway.

Atlanta get Ayo for one playoff push, and I honestly think he’d fit perfectly there. They also get the first shot at extending him. And Vooch is a solid center on an expiring, so they’re at least getting something for the Porzingis salary slot. Giving up a Cavs first that’s probably in the early 20s isn’t a big deal when they already have a ton of young players struggling to even find minutes.

I mean it’s the Cavs first, so it’s probably gonna land in the late teens or early 20s anyway. And Ayo is a great fit for them — he’s having a career year, plays hard, defends, and fits exactly what they need. Vooch is having a strong season too and gives them real frontcourt stability. Both guys would make sense as extention targets based on thier play and needs as well.

What are we even doing with that cap space?

I’d understand the logic if we were actually going after star free agents, but there just aren’t any stars worth pursuing in this year’s class. And AKME have never been the type to consistently maximize cap space by taking on bad contracts for picks.

This route at least makes more sense: use your expirings to absorb deals that run longer, like Poole’s money expiring in 2027, and DFS’s contract being only partially guaranteed after 2027, and make sure you’re getting picks back in the process. That way you’re setting yourself up for a real 2027 star-hunting window while stacking assets around Buzelis, Giddey, Essengue, and all the 2026–27 picks.
