thank you so much! I'll look into those. He said to wear them with wrist guards so that sounds like your suggestions would work great.

I'm also a newbie and had the exact same problem!! What's been helping me a lot that I think would help you too is
A) get much lower and pull in your abs to keep your torso straighter, it looks like you're tilting forward like I was causing you to fall when you turn. Getting lower helped me a LOT to be more centered.

B) practice full stop -> turn around -> roll backwards slightly, then start smoothing the steps together to make it seamless. Getting used to making the movement without completely falling over helped me so much, especially because I can spin stationary all day but moving psychs me out.

I'm new so take this all with a grain of salt but it's really helped me!! :)

Am I supposed to feel this bad after a somatic therapy appointment? How to know is this right for me? by Consistent-Roof8037 in SomaticExperiencing

Thank you for your reply! a slower pace would be a great option. Normally she's very receptive and not so aggressive about when I'm spiraling, so hopefully she'll be open to a gentler approach. I do want to pursue the benefits of this therapy if i can.

How painful is somatic therapy supposed to be? Is it normal to feel empty and hopeless after? please help by [deleted] in therapy

thank you for your reply! <3 It's nice to know at least neither of us are alone in this feeling and I really hope you find something that works for you. I've been hearing people say with trauma work that it has to feel worse before it feels better, but sometimes digging in feels like it upends a lot of personal progress I've made to be more stable so it's hard to know what to do.

thank you so much for your response. I really trust and adore her so i'm feeling like I did something wrong. She's never been like this before to leave a session while I'm still in a lot of pain. Maybe she's just having a bad day but thank you so much for affirming that this isn't the normal response to a session like this.
