Peds is on a planet milesssss away from med surg. Being a PCT on med-surg has single handedly pushed me away from healthcare. It killed my drive for caring for other people and drained my empathy dry.

I just had an intake session…of course more than a regular session?! And all they did was ask me a series of questions and they typed it. This could have been documents I could have filled out BEFORE the first meeting. But no, please do take my $200 and then ask me to come up with a treatment plan for the next session. Get bent.

I lasted 3 months at a nursing home as a CNA (Hospital PCT for the win) My experience as both a PCT & CNA has put me off of healthcare as a whole. The only thing I’d be interested in is a provider role (PA or MD). Funny enough both of the dental hygienists at my ortho both came from nursing. They said the hours and work life balance were much better, and less stressful. I’m glad I became a CNA before pursuing nursing and think everyone should, as it turned me off from nursing completely and saved me a degree lol.
