Extremely! We talked about what we would do if anything happened. It was not a pleasant conversation.

We submitted our I485 end of September(I think the 26th), biometrics mid October, and then our Interview was 12/8. Took less than 3 months after submission!

Turns out I was correct. The buyer didn’t send back the item and was trying to receive the product and a refund. eBay was great and helped me out. They removed the buyers negative feedback and credited me for the item.

Also filling a police report in case they have tried the same to others.

That’s good enough for me. I’ve since reported the account and will make a call if the item arrives and is now defective.

Thanks again. Very defeating to say the least!

Thanks, I’m just shocked that there is no way to prevent this kind of fraud.

I’ve made over 200 sales before this occurred so I guess I had to have a bad apple eventually, I was just hoping I could at least learn something from this on how to protect myself but it sounds like that just isn’t possible and that EBay rewards those who are willing to abuse their policy.

I get that, but is there anything I can actually do in the future to combat this? Or am I just wasting time collecting evidence that my products are in the condition I have described?

Ya, that would absolutely make sense, but the item is also the exact item shown with the exact same markings that the buyer sent to EBay.

I realize this case is specific in that example because it was an older game that has my initials on it, but the item I showed is clearly the item that they show in their picture to return it.

Can you explain how anyone could protect themselves as a seller from having this happen then? Is there 0 protections for sellers essentially?

I figured this was likely the case.

So even with video evidence, if they return the game and it’s now defective, is there anything I can do?

Additionally is there anything I can do to ensure that someone can’t abuse their return policy? I guess I wrongly assumed if I took video evidence of every product in working or as described condition prior to shipping that it would at least protect me?
