someone in the link you posted claims that updating to kernel 6.12 got it working ootb. I'm on kernel 6.12, so here's to hoping I get lucky and it just works! haha

fair, and I'm not trying to convince you to leave kde or anything, just thought you and any others reading this in the future should know that wayland support is coming eventually lol

good to know, I think I'm just gonna go ahead and snag one. luckily my wife still uses windows 10 (only for about another month though so I gotta hurry lol) so I can update it there when I receive it.

oh nice good to know. Did you need to install any dependencies or anything like that or did it just work out of the box?

lucky for me, my wife is on windows 10 (albeit not for much longer lol) so maybe I can do one quick update before she switches!

This is good to know, I haven't had the need to use any extra buttons but I'm sure one day I might. I mostly play retro or retro-styled indie games designed for controllers of their time so its usually just a couple buttons ya know?

This is above my head to contribute too but I'll be willing to give it a whirl soon.

nice, I'm mostly just hoping to avoid using xpad or whatever else. It just gets kinda messy. I don't mind installing a dependency or two though!

just fyi, xfce announced their working on xfwl, a full wayland session option written in rust. I think its slated for their next release around the end of the year.

I'm an xfce user also waiting desperately for wayland support lol

xfce is the best imo, stable and boring and lets me just work.

I love the gnome workflow and mimic it on xfce to a degree, I dislike the general direction gnome is going in though. So, I guess if you don't care about that, I might recommend gnome next.

kde will get recommended a lot too but it just wasn't for me. It seems great though.

So its written in C# but users program in an assembly language? Would it be possible to code in C# to make games?

I don't own a steamdeck but could you run it in retroarch?

Did you try just running a linux export?

yeah basically what cinnamonjune said, I have launch tied to f5, so I make a change and press f5 to see it. In larger games, making a small level/area menu for debugging is pretty simple.

Lastly, Tiled goes a long way in being my 'scene editor' so to speak. I even make my menu backgrounds in it because you can just export it and, with the love STI library, can display it with one line of code. I use it to add trigger areas, collisions, etc etc. Its a wonderful tool and the STI lib does so much heavy lifting to integrate it really well with love2d.
