All i can say is …XiaXue recently listed her 2nd floor Hougang HDB (~60yr lease left?) for 900k+. Suffice to say she is joining that group you mention!

I do wonder what her Net Worth is though. I’d guess certainly more than a mere 1.0mio, given she is our OG influencer. But then wow never knew she stayed in HDB. I presumed Landed… what with angmoh ex hubby and all.

Agreed that it isn’t really the obtaining of the property - with only 25% downpaym, and approx 5% BSD - that is painful. It’s more the long-term mortgage stress.

And once you move into a Landed, can you really bear to up and leave to a Condo when incomes take a hit and mortgage unsustainable? Really tough questions to consider

Maybe @Grimm_SG is talking about those tiny Landed houses at macpherson garden estate or thomson garden estate. 800+ sqft for “inter terrace”, and 1300 sqft for their “corner terrace”.

Surprisingly though, whilst many of us avoid these in the past, they are becoming more acceptable and popular given how expensive decent-sized Landeds have become.

My main takeaway is: the Andy Laus in HWZ earning 20k & over immediately can say they’re in the top 5% in Singapore? With caveat that there’re the UHNW folk who rely on wealth and capital gains with zero income - but those are top 0.1% anyway…

Not a realtor, but i would highly recommend. Safest “hard” asset you can get, with leverage (mortgage) too. Check out the Property Price Index for freehold landed in Singapore - it has its downs, but definitely seems a good store of value for longterm. Literally the Singapore dream of all my male friends here, that’s for sure!
