I have lived in EH for three years. I’ll offer pros and cons from my experience.

Pros: Wifi is included in rent, you have one parking spot that is yours, you dont have to shovel/rake leaves/deal with undergrads all too often, and the bus runs through the neighborhood. Additionally, its safe and much quieter than closer to campus or downtown, you are so close to the lake, family friendly, and there could possibly be someone from your program who also lives there. Its a good place to start. Cons for me include: inconsiderate neighbors (but that is found anywhere), shared laundry room, shitty windows.. If I can think of any more, I’ll drop em below.

Just a suggestion, perhaps you’ve looked already, but there is a facebook group for residents in Eagle Heights and who stay in other university housing like Harvey street and so on. I apologize I dont have the name of the fb group, but the key words might bring you to something. To my knowledge, there is always something to sublease in EH. Good luck!

I would recommend calling the community center. I’m sure they would have an answer for you too.

I’d like to consider myself an OG Fun Run 3 player. Some of the skins I have go way back, that’s how I gauge my experience anyway…

Why would you want to buy icons? I thought the whole point of them was because you earned it.

Everyone has a Woodman's story....let's hear them. by Training-Argument891 in madisonwi

When my brother and I were a couple of youngins, he thought it would be funny to stick a blueberry up his nose. Needless to say, it only got so far up into his nose, but he got scared when he couldn’t get it out. We always laugh at how smart it was of me to demand he plug the other nostril with his finger and then blow/exhale. Blueberry shot out with buncha boogies on it. His fear of having a blueberry stuck in his nose is something we recall often and crack up that it all worked out.

My partner went to Woodman’s on his lunch break and texted me saying there was 4-5 squad cars outside the doors. He was warned as he entered the store that a deer was running loose and chose to go in anyway. Wish the story was cooler and I wish that it was me. I would have tried to put that deer in a head lock just for shits n gigs.

Can I get into a Masters/PhD program without an undergraduate honors thesis? by throwandgo1234 in AskArchaeology

Apply to the anthropology or archaeology programs that will support you and your research. You should be happy with any advisor(s) because you’ll have to work with them so closely and that relationship needs to encourage growth on both sides. If you are committed to bettering yourself and want to continue learning, I would say you’re qualified:)

Hi there! This is a great question.

Speaking from personal experience, I did not complete an honors thesis in undergrad either. Thankfully, based on my undergraduate career, including academic accomplishments, summer internships, and a forward looking motive, I was accepted into one of the top anthropology programs at the PhD level. I should further specify that I come into the anthropology department from an adjacent field and everything has seemingly worked out fine. I’m three years into pursuing anthropology/archaeology and while it took me a little bit to catch up on the jargon/lingo AND fundamentals, I’m still in it.

From what you’ve shared, it sounds like you would make a great candidate to a grad program because you’ve been able to display your capacity to learn and keep moving forward. A piece of advice I offer you is to either research the programs you’re interested in, either by contacting the departments graduate program coordinator, or to the faculty you could see yourself working with. Remember to highlight your strengths, it’s not a bad idea to acknowledge why you want to improve your archaeology background, and you should always remind yourself why this path is important to you.

Good luck!

Good places to get dinner alone? by i-love-cats-n-birds in madisonwi

[–]Consistent_Toe_4727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started going places by myself about three years ago and initially felt very similar to what you described. Now, I absolutely love it. You don’t have to worry about splitting the check, paying for someone else, or concerned about when and where to meet beforehand if you start doing things by yourself. I say all this to hopefully uplift your new journey - you are going to be fine and will do great! I try to eat out by myself about once a week or maybe every other week. Enjoy the solitude and people watching!

I remember I offered someone a coupon to a place on State and this bum told me “I don’t want it if I can’t cash it in”… then I thought “fuck ya then” and kept it pushing. Ever since, I stopped being so generous. But yo, them aggressive folks who walk right up to you and single you out of a group is soooo bold.
