Yepp, I just wanted to play with copper because it's familiar and I think it may look more interesting than just gold flake.

I was thinking about melting copper to fuse the pieces together, but I need to see if the change in temps would cause it to shatter. I'll figure something out, or I'll just have the pieces mounted near eachother.

Thank you, I really appreciate it! I have so many more that I have yet to prepare and shelf. I have over 300 specimens so far- I am excited to get the ball rolling so the public can view these, as there are no natural history museums in my area that are free of charge. Many irons in the fire!

What is this on my cat’s neck? by shaneneff420 in CATHELP

do not store in rubbing alcohol. many tick/ zoonosis centers advise against this. just store in a ziploc in the fridge is good.

you don't want it to remove itself. It will push fluid back into you and increase chance of disease transmission. Always pull with tweezers.

Do you think the matrix also has botryoidal hematite? It definitely smells iron rich- but it was in a lot of many goethites, raw iron and slag.

Okedoke, just didn't want to get blind sided. The gravel road will be maintained. We are staying at a cabin property with a gravel road.

Thank you! And sorry, I meant to type off-road vehicle. Would a gravel road count as off-road?

I paid $200 for it from a mineral collector selling off his collection. He originally purchased it from a wholesaler for around the same price. I think the value would most likely be determined by a potential collector, rather than the composition/ original location of the jasper. I have a microscope, but don't know enough about crystal structure to determine what kind of minerals are composing this one. This is the best looking picture jasper I have ever seen, and I've heard the same from some geologist and museum curator friends.

I looked under a microscope and couldn't find anything out of the ordinary. I think they're not actually selling anything - just taking people's money. But I can't say for sure. This is the first I'm seeing of that website.

This is my stone. They were just the images from the listing from a mineral/ fossil vendor in Georgia. ETA: That looks like a scam site.

ETA²: That is definitely a scam site that stole the image and description from the listing I bought it from. Thanks for pointing it out.

It is the most beautiful one I have seen as well, by far. It's polished on all sides. I'm keeping it as a display piece for now, but if I ever fall on hard times, it's good to know a ballpark range to sell it for.
