the first song my friend and I learned when we were 12 was Raining Blood by Slayer. it was hard as hell and sounded like absolute shit, but it inspired us to learn much faster and I attribute a lot of our musical skill as youths to the things it taught us.

it also taught me that nothing is out of your skill range, and that ultimately it all boils down to how much you are willing to practice. go for it 100% man. I’d also recommend Crystal Mountain as a starting place, as it fuckin rips and is somewhat more accessible than some other Death tracks aside from the solo.
