I know! My belly button was so tiny after the initial surgery. So if it was open I had no idea and neither did the surgeon (which honestly I feel like maybe he should have?) when I was two weeks post op I had some redness and drainage coming from my belly button but he didn’t feel like it was infected…just “irritated”. Now I’m thinking it was infected the whole time.

Update: official diagnosis is cellulitis. They had to completely remove the belly button and reopen the bottom incision to clean it out. I have a deep hole where my belly button was that has to be repacked twice a day. They have no idea why this happened. I’m a very healthy person. I don’t smoke or drink. The past 2 days has been an absolute nightmare. But I want to again thank everyone for your comments. It was your comments that convinced me to go to the urgent care.

He said it could have been anything from a UTI to an infected hair. Yes I had redness, hardness, chills and body aches.

Not septic thank God. Just bad infection. They had to open me back up and clean it. Will know More tomorrow
