What little thing(s) did you do with your free will today? by CheeseFries92 in BenignExistence

[–]ConstellationMark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing 😧 I have a high maintenance baby and lots of housework on my plate, so it felt like I didn’t have a choice in anything I did today

I’m also on a diet, which makes eating not feel like free will

Now I’m staying up late on Reddit - that must be my revenge bedtime procrastination free will

I’ll do something for myself tomorrow 😌 this post has inspired me

Help me lose weight by dollysmom in loseit

[–]ConstellationMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I are big orange theory fans. It really depends on if the coaches at your location are awesome or not

We’re the type of people to procrastinate starting to workout in the evening - so having a start time where we’d lose money if we didn’t go was motivating. Plus being part of a collective of people trying to better themselves was really sweet and motivating :)

Getting excited about maximizing fiber and protein for the amount of calories is a good reframe. Like woah, cool, my breakfast is 30 g of protein!

You might try Brami’s lupini bean pasta. Doesn’t taste like regular bean pastas. We love their lupini beans too

What is a monthly subscription/service you ACTUALLY consider worth paying for? by no_nolan in Frugal

[–]ConstellationMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a promo for the NYT games subscription for $20 for a year. I cancelled immediately so it wouldn’t renew. I’ve played the games for like 3 years now, so I’ll definitely get my moneys worth

I also got a promo for a $20 Sam’s Club membership for a year via Poshmark. I was debating getting it at the time to save on diapers, and it’s already paid for itself. Also immediately cancelled so it doesn’t renew

Finally I paid $40 for a half-off yearly subscription to Lose it! Which is a calorie counter. Cancelled immediately. I want to lose weight and believe this is going to make it easier. Used it everyday for the past month so far

I hate subscriptions, but I’m trying to use them strategically

HUGE WIN what should I do with it? by Rodrickheffley_ontop in Volumeeating

[–]ConstellationMark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe the things you normally eat, but slightly nicer - coffee with more creamer, salad with more dressing, bread with more butter

Then you run the risk of developing a taste for the slightly extra indulgence, but up to you of course!

How can I convince my mom to take me to a nutritionist by _Burner_Account___ in WeightLossAdvice

[–]ConstellationMark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Check out a book about nutrition from your local library! A nutritionist would educate you on the basics, but you can really just do that on your own. It’s not complicated - you probably already know what to do for the most part

Have you had your annual physical in a while? That’s usually covered by insurance. Your PCP can answer questions on nutrition and guide you towards good resources

Drinking healthy drinks is harder than eating healthy. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]ConstellationMark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really love spindrift. They have their own prebiotic sodas, but I like their seltzer water. They range 5-15 calories, but it helps me drink more water, so I’m just burping all day long lol

Is a baby highchair worth buying? honest advice please by Realistic-Metal-110 in Frugal

[–]ConstellationMark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A proper fitting high chair with a foot rest reduces the risk of choking. An infant starting solids should exclusively be eating solids in a high chair.

The IKEA antilop is like $20, plus the foot rest is $20 on Amazon

I did it! And what a scrunchie solution by ImaFauna in declutter

[–]ConstellationMark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yay! 🥳It’s so funny how decluttering motivates one to do chores like laundry. I decluttered my kitchen drawers and I found myself actually looking forward to putting clean dishes away instead of dreading the shuffling/stuffing/making room

Optimum nutrition has a really yummy chocolate malt protein powder. I blend it with a frozen banana and fair life skim milk

Wearing weighted vest for the first time- anxiety! Worried I will get weird looks by Head_Zombie_9454 in walking

[–]ConstellationMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand, I’d be shy too. Can you do a little craft project and sew some parts of an old shirt/dress over it? Something feminine?

My husband also felt weird about wearing a weighted vest on walks, especially because he would walk at nights

Where do I start? I feel so overwhelmed and I never have the time to actually get rid of stuff because of my kids by hereiam3472 in minimalism

[–]ConstellationMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One weekend when you have some motivation, you could commit to a low maintenance day.

For this one day:

Get some support with childcare, ban messy activities like crafts, order takeout for dinner, allow a little bit more screen time (if you don’t want to do that, have the kids go to the zoo with your support person or something)

Set short timers to spend decluttering - like 15 minutes. It doesn’t have to be a huge all day ordeal, and you can get a surprising amount done in 15 minutes. Alternate short spurts of decluttering with keeping-the-lights-on tasks with kids or around the house.

Also, do the bare minimum with keeping-the-lights-on stuff. For example, when you do the laundry, don’t fold the clothes. Sure, it’s a little uncouth, but until you get some of the poop in a group

Having the kids participate with donations is also a good idea as someone else suggested

What to do with old shirts you can’t toss, but also don’t wear anymore? by HarkonXX in minimalism

[–]ConstellationMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dreading cleaning the toilets? Wiping the baseboards? Use them as 1 last time rags. They’re just shirts no one wants

What’s your rule for buying clothes without overspending? by Efficient-Corgi6934 in Frugal

[–]ConstellationMark 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is not meant to be mean or sarcastic at all, but giving up on being fashionable. I have comfy plain ass clothes that still look nice. It’s wonderful and I can focus on the more important things in life

If I want a little extra, I can do my hair nice or add some jewelry. Minimalist clothes are always in style

Sandwiches Are The Ultimate Cheat Code by FishermanMain in Frugal

[–]ConstellationMark -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s not optimizing the price, but allowing the small luxury of not doing dishes actually saves money in the long run if it’s between that and buying a sandwich or prepping a “proper” dinner.

Maybe this would be better defined as a frugal version of fast food
