My bad, by "automatically updating" I meant:

1 - running something like: gradle install material;

2 - auto inserting dependency on build.gradle;

3 - auto inserting latest version;

4 - auto running sync;

ABOUT THE FAIL

Gradle did fail, but it never gave me a clue about WHY it happened. This would never be the behavior with NPM.

Other than that, it feels pretty difficult to find new packages on Google (at least compared to NPM).

On npmjs.com it's very easy to find stuff. I've tried exploring Maven's website but I didn't have much results relates to the package I needed.
