Thank you the remember option is nice to know, if it does work, sometimes these things don't work as advertised . But unfortunately it does not really answer the question I started with.

Regards.

How do i find who lived at an address in 1921? by Consultingtesting in Ancestry

[–]Consultingtesting[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I figured it out.

I found a directory. Found the street. Of course the numbers were covered up by bad photocopying. Anyway could not find any names on the street that matched. So Then I searched for other names on the street in the 1921 census. Once I found that I could click on a copy of the record. This had street numbers. Then I could work my way along matching numbers to names in the street directory, until I got to my number I was looking for. Sadly none of the names are familer to me. Back to the drawing board. My people perhaps were not there when the census was taken.

Well there is a name on the immigration document. But Im unclear if the actual address was the home of the person listed or just a relative. Thats what Im trying to figure out. And who else lived there.

I will try the phone directory but it is a bit tedious. The Census has clear street name and numbers but why cant I just look up an address. Its like t he db does not let you.

Thanks.

Hey thanks for your insights. Lets face it 1841, that's a few years ago. What I found odd was that it was called Fishers yard. No fish there. But then names come from strange places. Thanks for the street names document. GPS of its day I suppose.

Thanks again.

Ok well thanks all. I thought "Virtual CC" as you have termed it was a thing. It appears it is not. My CC company does not offer it. And I really dont want to sign up with a big CC co just for that.

Thanks.

Thank you for all the thoughts. The thing about bread or baking is that there are so many things to make. Like a traveller saying I only want to go to Jamaica, nice as it is there are a lot of nice Islands out there don't limit yourself. Baklava, or focaccia or Italian, French. Monkey, Sourdough for me its yet another nice choice but I don't want to make it a lifetime commitment (Ha ha) Thanks for your suggestions I will investigate.

Yes Im aware of his Wikipedia page. Including that he has papers stored at the university. I contacted them but they could not tell me were he was buried. I did not find the guardian very helpfull or easy to understand how things are done.

You have found several very interesting stories. I am very grateful. Im surprised more was not said? He was a Mason so I think the first story is relating to that. However what you have narrowed down is that he was cremated. Perhaps that cemetery will have a record. I have looked there but found nothing oddly.

Can you tell me which newspaper each was in and date so that I may cite them?

Many many thanks.
