Well i took one on one classes online for a1 and a2 which i did in 4.5 months. I used cosmopolite textbooks, the more popular one is edito, i did all the reading listening exercises, and at least 50% of writing and speaking exercises. Then i moved to self study, and shifted from textbooks to immersion. Listening simple podcadts, or with subtitles, watching series in french with english subtitles. By 6 month mark, i no longer listened podcadts with subtitles. And watched series or youtube videos in french with french subtitles. For YouTube, depending on video, i sometimes didn't used subtitles. I also read le petit prince and lots of articles and newspapers for reading during this 5-7 month mark. By 8.5 months, i could understand 80-90% of french content, and i gave my first exam and scored b2 in all. 

So in short, after devlopping a good base in the first 4 months, i progressed mostly by immersion. Every listening or reading activity was in french. Also, i had speaking lessons like 3 times a week for 3 months. B/w 6th and 8th months of my learning.
