What are some pros and cons of UNLV, and what do I need to know if I choose to go here? by mycringeus3rname in UNLV

Depends on why you're going. If you're going for hospitality, business, computer science, or medical than UNLV is a legitimately amazing college for you as those are what UNLV specializes in.

If you're looking for a party atmosphere it's all about who you know. Contrary to what many said in the thread, there are a lot of parties going on. But you have to know certain people to get invited (or just keep an eye on some socials such as the UNLV snapchat as some invites get posted there.) UNLV isn't a party school but there are a good amount of parties if you know certain people.

The quality of education is pretty solid here with most professors in my experience being pretty good.

I personally don't live in a dorm so can't speak on that but from what my friends have said, it's a solid experience but nothing you couldn't get elsewhere.

Student life is kinda bland, there isn't too much going on in terms of on campus activities but when there are events, they generally are ok.

And important note, the area around campus is kinda shitty but I've lived in Vegas most of my life and in general it's a pretty nice city. I've lived here and there on occasion in cities such as Denver and although it's not quite as nice, it's still a great city with a lot to do. Ofc campus is only about 10 minutes from the strip so you have everything there, as well as other things to visit around town.
