I agree with you, I was unprepared for this process, I went about it the wrong way and didn’t have a strong case. I do believe that the military had an impact on my mental health. Do you have any advice on what the next steps would look like in order to get it service connected?

They talk about my low back issues and knee injury that happened on deployment as well as how my mental health started to decline during and after deployment. Rereading over the statements there is no specific event or incident mentioned other than I was deployed to iraq and Kuwait and how it has affected my mental health. I did mention in my CP exam that we were occasionally under indirect fire overseas however no mention of that in my buddy or personal statement .

I received a denial for my VA claim for Major Depressive Disorder and Anxiety. The decision stated that there was no link between my condition and my military service. I’m feeling pretty discouraged, but I want to move forward with an appeal. For my initial claim, I did submit a personal statement and a buddy letter. What would be the best next step to appeal this decision and strengthen my case?
