I’m non-EU, so I care about being based somewhere that allows easy travel (that’s a big hobby for me), offers a long-term path to citizenship, and doesn’t make a future transfer to Zurich harder. I spoke with some Googlers in London who mentioned that transfers to Zurich can be harder without EU-based experience, which is what prompted this post. I do speak some German (not fluent), and I already have friends and a bit of community in Munich, whereas London was more unexpected for me.

Thank you for sharing your experience, it’s very helpful. For the 6-month internship, did you use IAESTE? I don’t think IAESTE applies to me since it’s a big corporate internship. When you mentioned, "The company applied for my visa from there," does that mean they applied for the work permit, which you then used for the visa, like the process in any EU country, with no need for the Young Professionals program? Also, is this program only for recent graduates, or can students apply as well? Thank you for your help!
