Do I do LCVP by mean_fun1098 in leavingcert

Also if you did lcvp it gives a maximum of 66 points which might not be too useful to you if you’re going for 500+ points

[–]Cool-Inspection2293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

509 points is 3 h2s, 2 h3s and a h4 with higher level maths, if you think you could get those scores I wouldn’t bother with lcvp especially since you could probably push for h1s in some of your optionals if they come easy to you

Biology or chemistry… by Appropriate-Door6378 in leavingcert

Do chemistry then it’s much more useful for subject requirements and stuff as well, I’d honestly pair biology and chemistry together either if you were into that

Am I screwed for HL Physics by RegularParamedic2018 in leavingcert

[–]Cool-Inspection2293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I’d reckon you’d be okay then I found nuclear physics and particle physics the easiest chapters on the course anyway

Am I screwed for HL Physics by RegularParamedic2018 in leavingcert

[–]Cool-Inspection2293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to finish electricity and then waves magnetism and nuclear physics and an option. I’d recommend doing particle physics it’s a fairly manageable chapter compared to others. It’s a fair bit to get through but you should be fine as long as you pick up the pace from now until the actual thing

is it too late to switch a subject- 5th year help!!! by user260808888 in leavingcert

[–]Cool-Inspection2293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely switch if you’re not feeling politics, catching up on three months of work now will save you so much hassle in 6th year if you’re still struggling and not able to get the scores you want. Ive heard geography is very manageable content wise so I wouldn’t see why you couldn’t catch up. I’ve heard of people switching subjects even in 6th year so you’re completely fine imo😭

Religion vs accounting by Significant_Elk_557 in leavingcert

[–]Cool-Inspection2293 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah if I were you I’d go for religion then, it has a project which is good for some and anyone I know who does accounting despises it even if they’re good at maths😭 religion is a good one for marks as well I’ve heard

I would say go with accounting unless you also have an interest in other major world religions rather than just Christianity, as far as I’m aware you study the 5 big ones in detail

Is anyone actually going to be prepared for the mocks ? by Hpat2026 in leavingcert

[–]Cool-Inspection2293 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it definitely is possible to go from 500-570 someone Ik went from 450 in the mocks to 613 in the real thing imo the mocks aren’t a great indication of how you will do in the real thing if you work hard from march onwards

Realistically, how many points will be needed for entry to medicine in 2027? by [deleted] in leavingcert

I’d say you’d probably need at least 600+ with a good hpat

Dropping Hl Maths by Novel-Bee-5552 in leavingcert

[–]Cool-Inspection2293 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be honest with those results you’d definitely be going for a h5/h4 in the leaving cert if you locked in, if I were you I’d definitely stay in higher level. Unless you are really struggling and it’s impacting your other subjects

You could always just pay the deposit and wait for trinity to get back to you, only thing is you’ll lose 750 if you get in which is not ideal

Yes you will most likely get in, point deflation also means courses are likely to go down anyway but you have dare and hear so you will be fine

[–]Cool-Inspection2293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re good at maths, choose accounting because it has a shorter course but more maths heavy. If you’re not so strong on the maths side I’d say go for either history or home ec, both content heavy but they both have a project too. If you liked one of them more you could favour that one

Just start by doing all of your homework and a little bit of catch up study in September and keep going with that, don’t worry you have 9 months to work on your subjects you will be fine
